  1. No. I think they put that money aside to sign Hargreaves, but didn't need to spend it. Now they have.
  2. The entire tournament has been absolutely piddle poor. There are clearly no good young players coming through in Europe, and certainly no good teams. They are all useless! And I know exactly why. It's the ball. Since they started arsing about the new technologically superior light balls to deceive goalkeepers, all they do is deceive the players themselves so they are less likely to have shots from range or put loads of crosses in. Bring back the Tango, that's what i say. Or the Azteca.
  3. We haven't learned anything new yet anyway. We learned months ago that it would be - not a bowl - the Kop would be the focal point and be huge - the four stands wouldn't be identical - it would be unlike any other football ground - it's been moved from where the original new stadium was going to go The point is, after such a big buildup, most of us are going to go "oh, is that it?"
  4. I've heard Moyes is going to resign because Everton have got no money.
  5. Surely that means he's doing a good job then?
  6. Bored with this now. Can anyone who has seen it confirm that the Anfield Road end is... well... largely made of glass?
  7. Stan Boardman there, if you can spot him.
  8. That's not Lampard is it really? That has to be a joke, surely!
  9. I think he went for job at the Echo and was turned down?
  10. I've been told that the four sides of the ground will be all of differing sizes, or at least three different sizes. The ground will now be a lot nearer to the original Anfield, and not on where the car park is. It will be turned 180 degrees, so the Anfield Road end is still the Anfield Road end but the Kop is near to Priory Road. The Kop will easily be the biggest stand, and something about the Anfield Road end being glass so you can see through it and see the Kop on the walk up the Anfield Plaza, a bit like that new Dallas stadium they are building.
  11. Other than his stepovers, has anyone properly seen Mancini play? He did bugger all against United.
  12. Heard the Henry one. The other rumour I've heard is that Samuel Eto'o was spotted at Liverpool Airport this evening...
  13. This isn't specifically addressed to the person who wrote the piece, but it set me thinking... Too many Scousers believe Scousers can do no wrong. Too many believe they can get away with most things because of the insular attitude that they are the perennial outsiders and they "aren't a part of England", hence they can set their own rules. It was Liverpudlians who were causing most of the aggro in Athens, scallies one and all - they were doing the same in Eindhoven, they do it wherever they think they can get away with it - ie, not in England. Every town has their scallies, but Liverpool celebrates theirs a lot more than most, it's that cheeky Scouse charm etc... If it had been Everton in the final (try and suspend belief there for a moment) the problem would have been the same. They have the same kind of hardcore following all with the same attitudes and ideals, it's just they support the other club in the city. Now people will say "what about the Mancs? what about Chelsea?"... well, as I said, they all have their problems too, and in many cases a lot worse than ours - and don't get me started on other parts of Europe. But we can't deal with those problems... we can deal with Liverpool's problems, though. The RTK was well meant but it has been hijacked to the extreme now. It has to stop. Most of the people who bunked their way in don't even go to the games normally, but they have found a cause to champion and an excuse to fall back on. Of course, the whole thing wouldn't have escalated to such a level had UEFA got half a brain cell between them - and how telling their quick aboutface has been today - but it just gave the scallies the excuse they needed. And for what it's worth, I live in Merseyside and work in Liverpool and have been to every European away in two years, so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.
  14. The more I think about this, the more I am getting seriously wound up by it. This is an absolute disgrace. UEFA are playing a very, VERY dangerous game here. By pinning everything on Liverpool, they've essentially set into motion a scenario whereby everyone is going to start having a go at each other - which will lead to proper incidents, not any of these so-called 25 UEFA are on about. It's already happened. On Sky, they asked for views... needless to say, everyone who said "Liverpool are the worst" were fans of United and Chelsea and Everton and all the other clubs, whereby the people defending Liverpool were Liverpool fans. What's going to happen when Liverpool play in Europe now? It's given opposing fans and authorities carte blanche to do whatever the hell they like because Liverpool will be blamed no matter what happens. UEFA have hung us out to dry because they realise that by football's tribal nature, the only people who will defend Liverpool are the club and fans themselves. The sad thing is, how many of us are surprised by what's happened this season? None. English fans are no worse than others, but they are the scapegoats. Italian fans and clubs can do what they like - what on earth do they have on UEFA?!

Head in hands, and now we're at 1-1! Grobbelaar... antics on the line...
  16. A point not many have picked up on is why this doesn't happen at English grounds. The reason it doesn't happen is because the people trying it know they would have no chance of it coming off. Some people will always try and take what isn't theirs in any walk of life... the problem on Wednesday was that for weeks, all the stories coming out about the facilities had basically given people the incentive to go and try and bunk in. And they managed it. The tickets themselves were far too easy to be forged. That there were no turnstiles is a disgrace. UEFA made it easy for people to take advantage of the situation with their lack of proper arrangements. The more cynical person might even suggest they weren't particularly bothered that it all happened either... As for the airport and flights situation, that's a separate issue, but one that also needs to be addressed. When the Champions League final is at Wembley, as at Manchester four years ago, there won't be any of these problems.
  17. At the risk of sounding non-PC, the only reason she's been elevated to such a lofty position so soon in her career is because she is a blonde, good-looking woman. Nothing to do with equal opportunities and all that
  18. I'm saying that those who are complaining vehemently shouldn't be.
  19. My mates all have fan cards and all went to at least 7 European games and all got a ticket. I fail to see what the problem is here. If you don't go to European away games, you aren't really likely to go the final.
  20. It was actually louder during the penalties than at any point in 2005. People forget that for a lot of that game, much like last week, most people were cacking it every time Chelsea got near (which wasn't often last Tuesday). It was just because of the six minutes and the Gudjohnsen miss that everyone went mental two years ago.
  21. That Mazinho one for Brazil is one of my favourite misses of all time - it was in a World Cup semi-final!
  22. Imagine if it's Chelsea v United - there'd be nobody left in London on the day of the final!
  23. I thought it was great. It was obvious what happened. The whole 70s thing was this "life" he was living in his brain while he was in a coma... then he came round. Went back to his normal life. Hated it. Then jumped off the building to go back into a coma... and then went back to his 70s life. And then died! Not exactly the upbeat ending everyone will go on about tomorrow. As for the person mentioning the girlfriend before, if you watched the whole series you'd know she returned and then told him she was leaving him. They just about got away with tying up most of the loose ends.
