Selling him for any price would be madness as he does the work of two players, you can't replace that, even Gattuso wouldn't replace him on the evidence of how he's playing now, and developing for the future. He will define a new level of midfielder by the end of this season, and I suspect he's going to start getting more shots from distance too. Encouraging that none of Chelseas central midfielders would be higher than 4th or even 5th choice in our squad.

According the the community shield programme, he broke his leg early in the 03-04 season and didn't really return to the first team til last season, where he played all but 3 of Valencias league games. His first season there in 01-02 he played 15 League games, in 02-03, 27 league games of 38, scoring 8 goals (actually joint top scorer) I don't think we need to worry, he was obviously fit for most of last season.

I agree with your point, but unlike Drogba I think Adriano is well, or at least better equipped to get away with the same stuff in the box over here, as he does in Italy. Silly thing to say, but for example, I'd take him over Crouchy, under Benitez he could really develop into something special.
