Well, yeah, salad in October may be a bit weird but I've just been out to my veg patch and harvested a load of lettuce. I sowed some for over the winter a few weks back and with the recent rain and warm weather it's gone mental over the last week or two.

what are you gonna do with it all?

I have a Brisket been in slow cooker since half 7 this morning for tea when I get home.

Might have it with Hasselhof tatties and Veg.

How did you do your brisket?  What rub?  I love brisket so I'm always looking for interesting ways of doing it.

I have used this one in the past.

INGREDIENTS

2 Tablespoon garlic powder

2 Tablespoon onion powder

2 Tablespoon paprika

2 Teaspoon chile powder

1/3 Cup Jacobsen Salt or kosher salt

1/3 Cup coarse ground black pepper, divided

It's from one of the TV barbecue guys and it's good. The best thing about rubs is you can experiment with different ingredients, but always have plenty of salt and pepper in it. I've used smoked paprika, cumin, coffee and others.

Cumin, mustards seeds and cayenne pepper. I usually just put tomato paste/ketchup in the gravy as well. Just tasted it and a wee bit on the hot side so have put mango chutney in as well to sweeten up the gravy.

that all seems rather specific - one amount of each should suffice really.

We served them, I just silently judged people that ordered them 😉

Tomatoes were fresh & fried in olive oil, salt pepper and a little bit of oregano. Lush.

Still use it in sarnies etc.

A good compact lettuce is nice quartered and griddled to make a change from the usual round of warm veg. Perk it up with a bit of flavoured oil and chilli. Lovely.
