1st post by the way , so hello all :-)

so................. why do they all hate us?

The media, sky tv , etc etc should all report the FACTS , they do with most other clubs, but with us its agenda agenda agenda , why do they always have to go that step further?? i just don't get it

i know murdoch owns sky and gill is on the fa but its just disgusting that i can't even watch telly or pick up a paper to see us getting hammered in some way or another , its why i don't watch sky or read papers.

the only way we can really answer back is to win trophies , that'll shut the feckers up!

until then i will keep visiting the sane websites where i can actually read something about my club without an agenda.

We're really respected in Europe and all over the world.

yeah true mate , but this country makes me sick in their hatred for us, ffs we have'nt even won anything for 6 years so jealousy can't even come into it. they've got serious issues , yet the mancs get away scot free

it's one reason i don't follow england's national team

Man Utd are hated too, just not by a core of mainstream influential journalists and one or two others in positions of power right now.

Being utterly dominant when many of those now in the punditry game were playing is also a contributory factor.

And Heysel was hugely damaging to our image too.

We're loved by many too though. And many others are indifferent to us.

I dont believe there's an agenda but there is huge coverage because Liverpool sell newspapers and some of that coverage is going to be negative because it guarantees them even further coverage. Its the way they work. Sometimes I'd say we are a bit sensitive but most of the time we are completely justified in standing up for ourselves and thats not popular in media circles who like to tell us how we should think

I dont think we are any more hated than say Man U, or even Chelsea.

From observation, it's gone from being the jealousy that dominance will naturally create to now the jealousy of profile and coverage that rival fans feel we do not deserve given the relative success of the last two decades, and the sometimes self promoted idea of being the best fans in the world. Near everything you hear from rival fans is aimed at the amount of coverage we have and willing us to fail and for it to end, or an idea that we place ourselves and our issues above others.

There's something wider at play with the whole "self pity city" or "they love to play the victim" s*** being trotted out from all quarters. That has serious traction among a lot of people who are not politically or socially aware - it's up there with the Scots are mean, the Irish drink and the Welsh shag sheep. I don't know enough about why people from different regions all over England in particular dislike and even despise Liverpool (the region) but it's evident among normal people and the press from time to time. Maybe the capital and its media sneers on the regions in every country.

And I don't know enough about how Liverpool views itself within the nation that is England but I empathise with the sense of dissent I get from Liverpudlians from time to time.

I guess this is channeled in to football as it's among the most visible representations of Liverpool's identity but could be I am buying in to the stereotyping with my perception of it too.

This'll make you laugh, Ow.

We're not even really a scouse club, we're like a wool club or tories or establishment or something, not like the blues who are true blue down to the ground nitty gritty downtrodden people's kids from the dockhand city.

It's just weird that we are the ones everyone outside has heard of, gets at and pick fights with...and no-one gives a f*Ck what they are up to over in the corner of Anfield cemmog.

This is how it always was being a Scouser. We have ongoing battles with gobsh*tes who want to walk over us so that they can look down at us, cos we're the only ones who won't look up to them (like an evertonian does when sir alec comes to town and they all get down and pray that Moyesie gets the throne after him as has been promised in the echo letters page for years). That's just how it is.

Like last year, like the year before...

I largely agree, and I've no interest in the rest of England 'liking' us, especially when some of the things they dislike us for are things to be very proud of - our sense of community; our loyalty to our own; our fighting spirit; and so on.

But when that hatred is based on out and out lies (Hillsborough; the Suarez incident) then that does bother me, I'll be honest.

Not because I want their approval. I don't. I just don't like being slandered by anyone, however much of a c*** I may think they are.

I think we only started getting some real stick coming our way when some of our own fans started proclaiming us the best fans in the world. 70s and 80s we had the best team. We knew we were the best fans too, but we didn't go ramming it down everyone else's throats. Just got on with our own business and didn't care about anyone else.

Nowadays it sometimes feels like there are some on a mission to get the world to openly acknowledge our status. Also to take offence at every trivial perceived slight against our club that appears in the media. Such things don't really endear us to others. I don't think it's got much to do with Heysel, Hillsborough or Suarez.

I would imagine if you were from Essex you'd be pulling your hair out about some of the shyte that's been written about that place over the last few years. In my experience I haven't met many people that hated liverpool, even when I lived in Manchester for a couple of years the only stick i got was about football.

Tbh, I haven't heard the "self pity city" one for years but imo everyone has prejudices of one sort or another and having a thread called "why does everyone hate us" doesn't do us any favours at all because anyone reading this site that felt that way would look at it and go "see, victims again". We're the second biggest team in the country, most newspapers sales are dependent on their football coverage so why would the media deliberately set out to alienate such a big part of their potential customer base by having an agenda against us?

What's more likely, that there are sections of the press/media that have an anti LFC agenda and are willing to lose their shareholders money to further that agenda OR sometimes journalists see things like the Suarez case differently to the fans of his team? Every teams fans think that the press has it in for them at one point of the season or other.
