5InIstanbul Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Just had a long chat with a die hard, regular, season ticket holding for many years fan. Discussing recent and todays events and he says: "It's the right decision, shocking season, Rafa to blame, buck stops with him so had to go" So you think, well at least you can understand why someone might have that opinion, despite there being more fundamental reasons. We then discuss a replacement manager and the likely departure of our best players, in particular Torres and Gerrard. He says: "Well its disappointing but at least a new top class manager will have maybe £100 million to invest in building his team" If this is the opinion and ignorance of your average match going red, how will the message of the depth of our plight ever get across, until one day someone switches the lights off. After 20 minutes of a very passionate me putting him straight he still wouldnt have it. "Things will be fine." I just cant get my head round it.
Gomez Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Have you been on here this season? It's been full of that kind of reasoning. "Rafa needs to go, Mourinho will come in and win it with this squad of players." "I wouldn't be surprised if we had money but they don't trust Rafa to spend it - it be given to the new guy" The amount of times I've heard "spending £18m on a full back when he needed a striker" as though the revelations of the last 12 months just didn't happen. Head in the f**king sand some of our fans.

Swan Red Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Some fans are f'ckin stupid. yep and the fact is that any concerns I had about Rafa pale into insignificance when compared to what every fan should be concerned about while the club is being run by Hicks and Gilette
Dmitch Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Some perople just lap up what ever they see on sky sports news and in the tabloids!...... Ejits!
Tosh Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 No... What happens on the pitch is the manager's fault. It's well known in football. So when we are out of the title race - and the top four race - by October, they can call for the manager's head. And so it goes on, like we are suddenly Newcastle And it is sudden, isn't it.? Legacy of 40+ years of top performance and possibility of more gone for a long time in the space of what, 10 months....?

Legacy of 40+ years of top performance and possibility of more gone for a long time in the space of what, 10 months....? What? Which 40 years of top performance are you talking about? It's an irrelevant point anyway as Rafa has gone for non-footballing reasons.
Tosh Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 we have dined pretty well for 40+ years, through Shanks and Bob to Rafa's cooking The past 10 months on the pitch - and I am one who believes much of the blame for that lies off it - and current events make me think we are closer to Newcastle than Manchester....
Zoob Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Can Just see Tom Hicks on SSN, sitting in front of a cozy fire (in 35 degrees heat in Dallas) telling us that Megson was appointed manager because the fans he spoke to wanted an English manager and he always gives the fans what they want.
Sion Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) It's the people who wanted Rafa out and thought he was a bigger problem than the owners that really grate with me. And believe me there are plenty. They usually say things like 'i know the owners are bad, but...blah blah blah playing Lucas blah blah blah subbing Torres' Edited June 3, 2010 by Sion

They usually say things like 'i know the owners are bad, but...blah blah blah playing Lucas blah blah blah subbing Torres' Are they the same ones that are now saying giving the new guy (i.e Hiddink, Van Haal or Rijkaard etc.) a chance to take us back to the helm with the healthy transfer kitty? It would be laughable if not so tragic.
Sion Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Are they the same ones that are now saying giving the new guy (i.e Hiddink, Van Haal or Rijkaard etc.) a chance to take us back to the helm with the healthy transfer kitty? It would be laughable if not so tragic. Judging by my facebook they're saying 'Roy Hodgson would be boss but i don't think he'll come''Shame Mourinho went to Real last week''I'd like Hiddink' They genuinely believe we'll get a decent manager and give him money. Poor dears. They're in for a shock when we sell Torres and Gerrard and invest a portion back into the club.
Hassony Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 What's sad is that average managers like Hodgson and MON might actually say no to us, that's all you need to know about the shambles that is LFC at the moment
Redray Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 They're in for a shock when we sell Torres and Gerrard and invest a portion back into the club. Small portion. 20 million back into the club from say 100 million recovered will not devalue their idea of a fair sale price on a linear basis. They will be feeding off our carcas for some time.

Tones Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) No... What happens on the pitch is the manager's fault. It's well known in football. Thats not true. If the squad has been underfunded to the degree ours has then you wont do much on the pitch. Yes we should have done better with what was there, but you cant blame all the on pitch problems on the manager when hes not being allowed do his job properly. Edited June 3, 2010 by t1971
Rocheteau Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 What's sad is that average managers like Hodgson and MON might actually say no to us, that's all you need to know about the shambles that is LFC at the moment then again, who knows, maybe MON or Roy Hodgson will actually manage to do a better job than the previous incumbent, perhaps we may finish sixth next year and not get knocked out of the fa cup by a struggling championship side footballs a funny old game Lemmings and headless chickens, the sky is falling in

Paddy 66 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 So he's ignorant because he doesn't agree with you or the forum view Well thanks for sorting that outNo because he cant see the fact that none of what he is saying is actually going to happen, we are f****d as long as those two are in charge regardless of who is manager.
Zoob Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Lets give Hodgson more credit than that...hes hardly an average manager He's good at getting the most out of average players - done well at Fulham. Did pretty badly at Blackburn. I don't dislike him, and I think he's decent enough, but ideally we should be looking at managers who have actually won something.
mick Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Watching louse of games does not equate to having a better understanding of the game which is why when people say things like "he's been a season ticket holder for 30 years so he should to have some wellr informed opinion of what is right and wrong" is complete rubbish. I know people who hardly every attend matches and their opinion is way ahead of some people who hardly ever miss a game. I do believe that people who spend their hard cash going to games are more entitled to an opinion though even if its bollix!!
