i thought the results were interesting

 

 

 

10 - Beardsley & Rush - 82 goals in 105 games = 0.78 goals per game

 

9 - Toshack & Keegan - 155 goals in 192 games = 0.81 goals per game

 

8 - Fowler & Owen - 92 goals in 111 games = 0.83 goals per game

 

7 - Dalglish & Johnson - 142 goals in 168 games = 0.85 goals per game

 

6 - Hunt & St John - 341 goals in 384 games = 0.88 goals per game

 

5 - Fowler & Rush - 102 goals in 113 games = 0.90 goals per game

 

4 -Dalglish & Rush - 224 goals in 242 games = 0.93 goals per game

 

3 - Beardsley & Aldridge - 86 goals in 90 games = 0.96 goals per game

 

2 - Fowler & Collymore - 76 goals in 73 games = 1.04 goals per game

 

1 - Gerrard & Torres - 78 goals in 72 games = 1.08 goals per game

 

 

 

have to say I'm staggered by the St John & Hunt stats - and Collymore & Fowler's for that matter but for different reasons !

I was thinking that and then decided against posting it. Heskey was prolific in one season but played a fair share of those games with Fowler as well - then he was rank.

Here's my take on them...

 

Most Well Balanced - Dalglish & Rush (Dalglish's hold-up play, eye for a pass and ability on the ball dovetail brilliantly with Rush's raw pace, attitude and finishing power)

 

Most Exciting - Fowler and Collymore (you never knew what you were going to get but when they were on form they were on fire...perhaps I'm biased as I've seen less of the 60's and 70's partnerships)

 

Most Robust - Toshack & Keegan (those who would run you ragged and batter you senseless and could play a bit too)

well, i grew up watching Dalglish & Johnson/Rush and thought those sort of figures would be untouchable over that sort of period yet Hunt/The Scotsman are only just behind

 

mind you they played in age of 5 upfront, dodgy keepers & it being harder for defenders to pick up attackers cos all the kits were shades of black & white.....
