He needs to get over the disappointment of missing out last season, and of losing Alonso. I think both have affected him. And yes he needs to get back to full match fitness - by playing. I wouldn't leave him out.

He needs to stop sulking when things don't go his way and lead the team. Poor form is "acceptable" and happens to everyone, but if you are club captain you need to demonstrate leadership. Don't think he did second half yesterday.

He looked a bit brighter in the first half, but clearly knackered in the second half along with Johnson, Masch (Getting booted off the ball all the game didn't help him much), Torres and a few others.

 

Good first half though (Compared to the rest of his season so far) - we really need our top players to be match fit.

 

Just a shame the injuries have destroyed any chance of that for so many of our key players.
