Pat Dolan on Setanta seems to have a lot of time for us.

Pat is alright but that Paul Dempsey hates Rafa for some reason. All the boys on RTE cant stand him. In Oz now and Robbie Slater is a big fan on Fox Sports.

George Burley is particularly bad on Setanta - I think Fowler must have shat in his trifle once or something.

I do notice a gradual change in some of the journos and pundits - solely I suspect as they cannot dissmiss us out of hand anymore and don't want to look stupid down the line. This change does have the texture and feel of being somewhat grudging though.

we have Carlton Palmer (who the f**k is he??????????????) and he said last night Liverpool will never sustain a challenge under Rafa cause he's just not good enough.

When it comes to being "not good enough", no-one was better at that than Carlton Palmer

yeah, and there's definitely an undercurrent to the way mcmahon sneers at sheby singh, like he can't know anything about football because he's asian. unlike self-titled 'big mac' who spent all of last season saying that torres would have scored loads more goals if only benitez hadn't kept rotating him.

Stevie, Sheby Singh doesn't know anything about football! But yeah, Mcmahon does appear prejudiced.... and tries so hard to seem to like Liverpool but his true colours show all the time...

still so much better the the crap we get with some geordie (haha) and carlton palmer...

He's a regular for Ten Sports during their Champions League coverage and he says this EVERY single time.

That is not quite true. Souness has an awful lot time for him and Giles, while he can be critical, rates him highly. He has regularly described him as a proper football man, which for him, his the highest praise.

Houghton, yes. is very critical but the man is a bunch of neuroses hiding inside a mind comsumed with a sense of dystopic failure while Whelan is an obvious idiot. He regurgitates a 'tabloid for the slow learner' view of football because that is all he is capable of doing. And Trevor Steven is like his balder, slightly more articulate b*****d brother. Dunphy is a caricature who confuses incoherent ramblings shouted in an ever louder voice as analysis.

The only newspaper that seems to 'lean' towards us is the Mirror, the rest are generally just bandwagon jumpers. It's interesting to see the names that people put forward as 'liking us' or 'liking Rafa', because I generally rate those as the best journalists in football, and are simply just balanced, fair and unbiased.

Someone mentioned Oliver Holt - did you know he's a Manc? He'll tell you he's a Stockport fan, but he's been taking his kids to OT for years and years. He's a cracking journo though because he reports fairly, and is intelligent. Same for Winter, Kay, and even (even!) Martin Samuel, who since his move to the Mail (of all places) has turned into a very good columnist.

Of all the papers that you could bring up as 'leaning towards' Liverpool - the Mirror would be the very last one.

The Mirror or the Daily Manc is so pro-Manchester United (due to its roots) that it would be hard to find one more so.

The very few times I've (against my better judgement) read it - I've always regretted doing so.

This is the same paper that one year when we won the title used the back two pages to print a major story on Manchester United reserves - you had to look three pages in for a begrudging mention of us winning 'yet another title'.
