Danny Baker...what a tw*t

How the hell does this ****** get a radio show. Talks utter boring sh*te.

Doesn't like the champions league....I agree Danny, Stoke vs Boro is a lot better.

Doesn't like Rafa....well Rafa wouldn't have nearly blown a 3-1 lead from an away fixture.

We did happen to listen a little last night on the way home and the only comfort is that he seems to attract similar knobs on the phone. Shame really as the game really merited some good coverage but I guess it's all about ratings.

What pisses me off is that Baker's return was heralded as being back to the best of 606, not just the same tedious ranting from fans. But Baker seems to delight in being controversial and contrary and seems to hate modern football - so why bother coming back?

The only 606 I listen to is Bakers bacause generally it has nothing to do with that nights fixtures or current football issues.

He rarely strays into this territory but when he does it's usually to slag Rafa off or to have a go at Chelsea.

The rest of the podcast remains highly entertaining.

Same here. The slagging of Rafa is just stupid but no different than a lot of the nonsense about players/other football clubs sprouted here. Sometimes being a one-eyed idiot is part of being a football fan.

Was this just a general moan or related to this week's show?

I've just listened to the podcast and unless they have edited something out, there wasn't much in there to annoy.

He admitted he was supporting Liverpool against Chelsea, as he always wants Lodon teams (who aren't Millwall) to lose.

was reading in a Boys Own fanzine years ago - club fanzine from the late 80s, Weatherall, Farley etc - an interview with him.

He hates being called 'Danny Baker, Milwall w*****' more than anything, he says.

Danny is a superb presenter.

Admittedly I haven't listened to him recently on 606, but to anyone who thinks he's sh*** have a listen to some of these & have a word with yourself.

Danny Baker & Danny Kelly

The Laziest Teacher in the world and the Die hard Sean from Belfast, and the Fantasy Football ones to name but a few.

Die Hard Sean from Belfast = total keek

Spoof!

There are quite a few people from "unionisdt/loyalist" areas that wear Celtic shirts cos they think they're better than Rangers.

Firstly, 6-0-6 is a fan phone-in. Sure a lot are dimwits, but there's some good stuff too. Secondly, Danny seems to think naming teams that have dog names and such rubbish is interesting. Thirdly, he was chunnering on about how the CL is boring....well Danny watch some Prem stuff. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is that his shows are mindless drivel and if I want to listen to that I can stand next to any Manc in the pub.

I like Baker, but his Rafa stuff is odd. Particularly the "if O'Neill was manager Liverpool would be 20 points clear" b******s.

It is odd but I don't think he is:

a) Watching us

b) Watching Villa

c) Watching anyone really.

I don't think he cares, indeed, he said as much back last year that he really didn't give a f*** who won the league.

Fair enough, but does that really give you much foundation to a) comment on the PL and b) comment on football in general?

He seems to hark back to a hazyily-defined glory era of football which shifts every week from the mid-eighties to the mid-nineties.

I think he has a lot of foundation to comment on football in general as he probably knows far more about what's happening lower down the leagues than Green, Spoony, Chappers and Lovejoy put together and multiplied by six. He's there as a counterweight to the top four domination of not only 606 but football media as a whole and as a counterweight to the ridiculous seriousness of it all.

However he'd do well to jib what he can't be bothered discussing and concentrate on what he can be bothered discussing.

There will probably be more of the same on Tuesday though as someone will want to discuss our game.

nah, he doesn't really hark back to halcyon days so much as celebrate all that's simple and nostalgic about being a football fan. he's spent a lot of this season setting himself up as the anti-sky which is fair enough, i enjoy the trivia and ephemera stuff he does, but that doesn't mean he has to be quite so down and pissy on big clubs and big matches though.

Should give him his own show and not handcuff him to the tedious, reactionary 606.
