growler Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Dont' know how many like this, but I like to know what the other clubs will be doing in the summer, and lots of you have better access to this type of news and inside news. So, anyone? Only thing I saw was Chelsea looking at Van Der Vaart
Kahnee Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Chelsea should be fun to watch, given next year is when they're supposed to become financially selfsufficient
Sion Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 watching man city fail to sign any of the real top players and have to settle for signing second tier players for £30m will be funny they're only a few players off being as good as us you knowhttp://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/forum/viewt...amp;hilit=riera haha

Hassony Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 "Liverpool have spent £215,490,000 between 2004 and 2009, which averages out at about £45million per season. Just because Benitez likes to sign 12 year old Spanish forwards for a couple of million each doesnt mean that you arent spending lots of money. Please dont try and make Liverpool seem like the perfect English clubs with loads of people coming through your academy, Its b******s. Benitez Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Gerrard treated like a dog by Rafa. And Fabio Damn them! 's kinda funny though, how whoever wrote that thinks the fact a starting line up of a team who's been struggling at the wrong end of the table most of the season cost a couple mill less than a team that's been fighting at or near the top all season is somehow a good thing!

Liverpool have had plenty of players come through the academy - trouble is hardly any of them are good enough for Liverpool. And if City were as good as they think they are/will be then almost all of the players coming through their academy wouldn't be good enough for them either.
dorgie Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 There is one certainty in advance of each transfer window : Bill Kenwright saying (several times) in advance of the opening of the transfer window, how Moyes has money to spend, but wants to spend it on the right player. Then, at the end of the transfer window they end up with a crocked ex-ManU player on a free.

For some reason Tottenham, Newcastle, Everton, Villa fans all see themselves as just being a Gerrard short of being as good as us. Its as bad as us thinking that we were 2 big names short of challenging for the league in 05.

They seem to believe the nonsense that we only do things like win the European Cup and beat Real Madrid 4-0 because we are lucky.

Their other trick is to wait until a player has agreed a fee of say £12m with another club, had a medical, and just before they are unveiled Everton will swoop in with a bid... of £8m.

Then try to put a positive spin on it with "we only want players who would die for Everton", "the other club is spoiling football with their money" and "we believe in our young English players". A club, preferably us, should scare the heck out of them by pulling out of a deal and then laugh as they panic whilst trying to explain why they can't afford even the £8m. I'm convinced they cacked themselves with the deals for Martyn and Sissoko.
