Agger in contract plea

Dane wants Reds future sorted

Last updated: 30th December 2008

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is hoping the club can sort out his contract to extend his stay at Anfield.

The Danish defender is in talks over a new deal with his current contract having 18 months left to run.

Reports emanating from Italy claim AC Milan are waiting in the wings to sign Agger if contract talks with Liverpool continue to stall.

The 24-year-old, who is now back in the side after a lengthy injury, insists he would like to remain at Liverpool and has called on the club to resolve the issue.

Hold-up

Asked if he will stay at Liverpool, Agger told the Daily Post: "I hope so. I don't know what the hold-up is. I let the club do the talking and I will try and do mine on the pitch.

"I am trying to improve. I feel it is getting better and better in every game. I am feeling more comfortable and trying to improve in every game.

"Of course I want to stay if it is possible.

"As I say, the club is dealing with my contract talks and we will take it from there."

He takes his time sorting out any contract does Parry, goes into every clause and detail, then 2 cowboys come in from America and he gets the deal done in a few days. go figure.

Even though it was inappropriate, I would have thought Hicks public slating of him earlier in the year would have given him a kick up the ar*e. Stupid d1ckhead.

Erm, where is the remotest shred of evidence that it is LFC or Rick Parry holding up contract talks?

Parry is guilty until proven innocent.

Pretty remote it may seem, but what Agger said?

Where he doesn't blame anyone specifically at all?

Maybe it's his agent holding things up (which would obviously be very sensible from his perspective)?

Maybe it is, maybe it's both sides cannot agree terms. All the evidence we have is that Agger claims not to know what the hold up is and has left it with the club. Is there previous for this?

We pay Skrtel? I presumed that for every game he played we gave him raw meat and wood to send home to his family.

I am excited at the prospect of a backline of Reina; A N Other, Skrtel, Agger, Insua in five years time.

If we sign Agger to a long-term contract, we could have our backline for the next few years sorted. I stress could, since there's every chance some part of this simple, ingenious plan would go t*** up.
