b) The rest of the Brazilian Ladies team were s***ter.

Why people still stick up for him i don't know. It's not like Babel where he's shown signs of promise, they guy is utter w***. I've never seen him even have a promising spell in a game, let alone a good whole game. Time to cut our losses.

Thought he was good enough defensively today. Won headers and some tackles. Lost the ball quite a few time in the first half though.

He will never be as physical as Gerrard, have a passing range like Xabi or tackling skills like Mascherano but he can be a partner for all kinds of players in midfield while not being a liability. He's only 21 btw, younger than El Zhar and only a year elder than Plessis and Spearing and hell of a lot better than them. He isnt the player to who we should be looking for to grab the game by the scruff of the neck when things arent going well. Btw, i'd say that he's at the same level as Denilson for Arsenal and Anderson for the Mancs.

I don't agree with that, think they're both better. BUT the thing is, he doesn't even show any promise. There's no 'Oh well, he's still learning' like you see when watching the likes of Anderson. Nobody can honestly say they've looked at Lucas and thought 'wow, in a few years he's gonna be awesome'

He does it all Lucas, shame he's no better than average at any of it. Which at €9m, is very worrying.

I think he reads the game better than both of them and even though he makes only a few runs forward, he's makes them correctly and gets away from the midfielder with his movement. I dont know if he will be a success for sure or not because he doesnt seem to have the physicality that is sometimes needed in this league but i'm quite certain that his passing and reading of the game will only improve with time. Doesnt seem to get pushed over as easily as he did last season, when he has the ball.

IMO, i think he's this years favourite scapegoat. Him and Benayoun. Babel and Keane next if/when Lucas is sold.

He s*** out of too many challenges today. He picked up in the second half but I haven't seen any glimpses of any talent worthy of us to keep sticking with him.

Anderson shows much more promise than Lucas.. I would happily have taken Anderson for what we have paid for Lucas.

I don't think Anderson - who cost about 3 times as much - shows more promise than Lucus. Think he's just tutned into a convenient scapegoat when he's playing and things don't go well. Thought he won more tackes than mascherano today, and was always looking to get invovled. Our whole team today were either anonymous or gave the ball away. Thought Arbeloa and Carragher were the only player to come out with any real credit

I would happily have taken Anderson for what we have paid for Lucas.

Really odd thing to say given that Anderson cost around 3 times more than Lucas

The Mancs paid thrice that amount for Anderson. Anderson is about the same age, strong on the ball and keeps it really well. He isnt a pure defensive midfielder either and isnt good enough yet to play in the opposition third and link up the midfield with attack. I think midfield is a position where players become better with age and the likes of Lucas/Anderson/Denilson are too young to be judged as definite hits or flops. There are very few midfield freaks who're really good at a young age like Masch or Fabregas.

It says awful lot about the impression he has made that after 15 months of being here no Liverpool fan could honestly tell you his favourite position or what his role in the squad is.

some would say his best position is on the bench...

i think when we bought he was talented and is talented but we have ruined him as players who are young need competitive football which he has not got at Liverpool.. He was aweful today and seriously was a disgrace for his nationality..

Denilson is the slightly better player, more solid overall. From what I've seen anyway. Lucas doesn't look to have the same kind of composure, pace or physical strength. Maybe it's the girly hair...

Anderson is on a different level. Can you imagine Lucas out-playing Gerrard in midfield (at Anfield in Dec 07), even once in his career?

Having said all that, he's not as bad as some make him out to be, but definitely has a lot of improving to do in all aspects of his game.

Anderson is miles better than Lucas at the moment unfortunately

I disagree with that.. Hes better because he gets playing time but being miles better is a stretch.. the other thing is Anderson is a more creative player who is used to European football

He made 32 appearances for us last season.

Anderson is much better than Lucas, which is worrying as he's a fair bit younger than him - anyone saying otherwise is clearly blinkered to the fact he plays for United. Granted he cost more than twice as much, but the gap is big.

I don't get any of this 'Lucas is the new scapegoat' rubbish either. What's that meant to mean? He's actually playing well and other people are at fault? or there's others playing as poorly on such a regular basis? because on both counts you'd be wide of the mark. There's nothing 'raw' about his game, he just doesn't have Liverpool quality. I think if anything the fact he's Brazilian is helping him and buying him some time.

Today highlighted once again how thin our squad is. Whereas Chelsea and United could put out there 2nd XI's and probably easily get in the top 4, our second XI would be lucky to finish top 10.

In case you can't tell, I'm not Lucas' biggest fan.

Well I think Anderson is a bit overhyped but he's definitely a lot better than Lucas.

Biscan was a better central midfielder for us than Lucas. I'd have rather seen Yossi play in CM today than him, and how he stayed on when Masch was subbed off i'll never know. still no excuse for all the muppets at the back of the Kop booing the substitution

Anderson cost 3 times what Lucas did, and considering hes an attacking midfielder i dont remember any goals or assists from him. He also played in a European league before signing for Utd whereas Lucas has come from Brazil.

I do think he needs to start showing more but at the moment thats pretty difficult when you have 3 of the best central midfielders in front of you. I still think people are being a little harsh on him his record when he plays has been talked about on here before and its very good.

Hes never going to be a Gerrard type player although i do think he has more to offer offensively than hes shown so far. But he is one of those players that tactically does what the manager asks of him. Does he have a future here? maybe not but id personally give him more time to prove himself.

When was the last booed substitution? Wasn't it Fowler off for Morientes a couple of years back? Then Morientes scored and barely celebrated?
