But the following season was a cracker as he bagged 26 goals in a rampaging Liverpool side that was one of the most exciting ever seen with Beardsley and Barnes providing Aldo with the ammunition

Try telling that to those fvckin southern journo's, and Sky "summarisers" with their manhoods stuck right up Wegner and Arsenal's backsides

Aldo was great, and it was a genuinely moving moment when he said goodbye to the Kop - a real fan connecting with all the others. He also provided us with the funniest bit of protesting ever seen at a World Cup.

No I guess not, it's just that he doesn't seem to get a mention on here as much as some of our other greats.

Wonder where he would be in an all time Liverpool strikers list?

I know personally I'd have him above Owen and Fowler.

Don't think he was here long enough to get above either of them

That Goal of the Season in the 88 semi-final - sweetly timed yet powerful volley on the run from a delicious Barnes cross after exquisite Beardsley approach play - encapsulated the quintessence of that marvellous team in one orgasmic passage of play. Utterly fantastic.

This - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gdOUS5tQ3Qw - never stales. That Barnes isn't too shabby, either.

based upon what ?

Moustache cultivation.

He was fecking brilliant and I don't think we should have let him go (in retrospect), but Will's comment is spot on I think.

Would love to have seen Fowler in that team, just as a kind of a reversey kind of aside.

stick Fowler alongside Kenny 77-86 and I reckon he'd have outscored Rush/Hunt/Everyone

now there's controversy !!!!!!

its not controversial if you are talking about the Fowler we saw pre injury who was just insanely better than everybody else on the pitch

...and that's the key : a great player among some great players who wasn't here very long. We know his true worth though.

"He won it from Brock" - bugged me for years why I knew that username!

Fantastic striker, possibly one of the most under rated players in the game, not just by other supporters but also by some Liverpool supporters. People talk about Dalglish, Rush and Fowler but Aldo could more than hold is own. His goalscoring record while at the club was phenomenal.

63 goals in 104 appearances.

Bloody no-good wastrel! What was he doing in those 40 odd games without a goal? Could have signed Frank Macavennie or Charlie Nicholas for that money. ;)
