And. Yes. Here we are again. The season has played one game and the idiots in charge are trying to ruin the season once again by playing another utterly stupid, pointless, pathetic friendly.

You'll all remember fondly when last year, International matches destroyed our first team.

Great. Just what we need.

Utterly pathetic.

If it were possible - I hope they all lose.

I seem to remember you were top of the table after beating Derby by six when we went into an international break. Didnt the wheels fall off after that?

we'd won 3 from 4 (plus two good CL 3rd round wins), should have beaten Chelsea if not for the phantom pen too

international break comes along

next ten games in all comps we win 3 games, draw 5, lose 2.

injuries to Alonso and Agger didn't help either

Has happened every year for decades. Get over it.

It's still s***

We had 10 years of Thatcher. I'm not getting over her either.

It's also pointless. 1 league game and then an international friendly in the midweek. It's daft

It may be daft but it gives our injured an eight day period without a match. Thank F for internationals.

In all honesty though they are pointless and a pain in the a***. You wait for weeks for the season to start, you have one game and its back to no football for another week because the new England manager wants to see if Emil Heskey really is a striker.

Its madness.

I think the timing is silly from a club persepctive, but then as the first competitive internationals of the season are on 6th September, it's hardly surprising the friendlies are when they are

Which is the greater evil? Thatcher or pointless interbational friendlies?

Cobs defo thinks the friendlies obviously...

Time to abolish international football.

What a stupid thing to say, of course they shouldn't. Agreed the whole International timetable needs looking at, but not getting rid of them, there are millions of fans who love international football. I would suggest a large number of Liverpool fans do to, although probably not many on here.

I love international competition not international friendlies. Irrespective of whether it interferes with the domestic season - which it obviously does - having to pay silly money to watch players almost try is just not on. I enjoyed this years European championship far than any international football in the last 10 years because it patently matttered to the players taking part. If you ever want to show someone what winning can mean show them footage of the Spanish team after the final.

agree with this. international competition great, international friendlies a total waste of time. the manager learns nothing he didn't already know and these days they've become more than ever exposed as jollies and revenue-spinners for domestic FAs.
