Leaving Blackburn for Spurs.

Yeah you'll really get far there!

Just an average over-hyped player and he'll prove it at Spurs. Made for each other.

thought his name was 'Liverpool Target David Bentley'?

Liverpool Target David Bentley is criminally over-hyped.

Think it's something do with coming from Arsenal

£14m is crazy money.

Heard this morning that a clause in Bentley's contract entitles Arsenal to 40% of any subsequent transfer fee.

Perhaps Dein isn't as daft as he looks after all, nearly £7m in the bank for f*ck all.

Good player. Not one I wanted at Anfield but a good player. Spurs will be a good side this year. Right move for Bentley too because Blackburn are only going backwards.

What with Arshavin and possibly Milito and Albelda coming as well. They will have a very good team if they get a centre back who can play more then 2 games in a row.

Albelda and Modric behind Dos Santos, Arshavin and Bentley with Milito leading the line looks a strong team indeed. Strength in depth becomes an issue, and yes, the defence remains questionable but Ramos is building his own team and doing so quickly.

Who bought half or barely-knowns.

Spurs are signing or looking to sign acknowledged high level players. Whether they bed in is a tough one and it is a gamble.

Realtive unknowns but who still take time to settle in. The majority of players from different leagues take time to settle in England as english players would abroad. The exception to the rule being Torres.

Spurs seem to be spending an awful lot of money on creative "in-the-hole" players; Modric, Bentley (though can be shifted out wide) and possibly Arshavin. Will the ybe spending any cash on people who actually score goals? And how are they going to fit Modric, Arshavin and Bentley in the same team?

Arshavin was unknown until this summer as being a "high level player". Modric wasn't touted much either until they finally knocked England out.

Dos Santos does look a player, but a midfield of Albelda (where's that link come from?) and Modric behind Arshavin, Dos Santos, Bently and Milito looks lightweight to me.

Out of Bentley, Modric, Arshavin (if he even signs) and Dos Santos, Dos Santos is the one who really hasn't shown much if anything at all. Likewise Arshavin and Modric could easily flop and that leaves Bentley as the safest bet out of their new signings IMO.

Great quote from today's press conference c/o The Fiver:

"It means the world to join Tottenham. Gazza was my favourite player, all my mates are Tottenham fans and there's a piece of my heart at this club," he blubbed today, searching for his left ventricle underneath the North Stand. "I grew up through the Arsenal youth team but it's not a problem for me, all my heart is at Tottenham and all my passion will be tunnelled into doing well for Tottenham."

A defence of Hutton, Woodgate, King and Bale looks good on paper IF it gets games together. I think Jenas and Huddlestone are capable of more than they have shown so far as well. As stated, they have a lot of players to bed in, but they could be a threat. A lot will depend on the forward they sign, I've not seen much of Pavlychenko but he may be a more of a target man than Berbatov which would suit the signings they are making.

I can see them breaking the top four this year if they start well, big if though!

Are any of the bookies running books on the first badge-kisser of the season?

Bentley & Lampard, given that one's at a new club & one ought to face the wrath of his fans, would have to be decent prices but are the kind of arrogant arses to do it.

That's what I was thinking.

Granted they could be quite tasty going forward but put all those in the same midfield and the defence is going to be very exposed.

It'll be like the Ardiles era all over again. But instead of a 5-0-5 formation it'll be 4-0-6-0.

Typical Sperz.

Still think Albelda could get turned over good style in the prem.
