El Goofy...

Ronaldinho will allegedly be shipped out of Barcelona this summer. I read that Milan are interested and then heard on the radio that Man City are gonna be in for him too...

Question is, should we be tempted?

Could play him off the front man, with Gerrard shifted to the right or alternatively, Babel could come across to the right with Ronaldinho playing as a left sided forward.

Word is, he'd cost in the region of £12m. There's the question of whether he'd adapt to the pace and physical nature of the Premier League, and it's a valid point, but there's just something about the prospect which really wets the appetite IMO...

What say you?

Worth a punt?

Might want to have a read around, mate. There has been loads on this already.

Don't want him.

And the motion is carried :D

Any particular reasons? Or do you just dislike long haired, goofy folk? :P

One of the best players in the world. If he acted like a professional off the pitch and got himself fit we'd be f***ing daft not to want him. But as it stands, he'd be a risk.

We won't take the risk.

I just think he's decided that football is a route to the lifestyle he wants. He's looked disinterested at times for Barca this season as well.

I just don't think his heart would be in to the extent we'd want it to be. I'd sooner develop Babel in that position.

Nope, if a player is that talented and working within the ideal team that plays football with other world stars in the Nou Camp then I have serious reservations if he can do it elsewhere especially considering he is coming down from his peak age.

12mill for Ronaldinho?? - I'd take him in a flash.

One of the best players in the world, just turned 28 so still has 4 good years ahead of him.

He has performed well at the highest level so adopting to the PL won;t be a problem (Spare me the cold rainy nights at Bolton rubbish)

If he came RAfa would get him into shape fairly quickly.

Gragham Hunter was on Newstalk radio in Ireland last week saying that Ronaldinho turned up drunk at training a few weeks ago. Can't imagine Rafa standing for that type of carry on.

 I dunno why, but i just find that really funny...

Fair play.

I'd personally back rafa to get his head right and utilise him well. Could be wrong though.

I agree with the majority opinion that we'd never sign him, mind.

A year ago Ronaldinho was worth £40m+. If we could get him for anything like £12m we should bite their hands off.

He's hardly old, and even if he is half the player he was he'll be better than most we have in the wide areas.

The change of scenery could revamp him.

Didn't his agent say last week that AC MIlan Chelsea and ourselves had enquired about him ?

Exactly. A lot of clubs will be thinking like that, so if we are going to do a deal, we need to have already done it... or summink.

One thing we need to focus on is that this Idea came originally from Prongsy and me, everyone is welcome to jump on our bandwagon, but we don't want people claiming that it their idea

We could probably pick up Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano for EUR 15-20mln - doesnt mean its a good idea though.

There are no free lunches in this game (though, if you are James Beattie they are his goal bonus), why would Barca let potentially the best player in the world, with huge merchandising pull - go for 12million pounds sterling ?

edit I'd actually cream myself if we got him, but I just dont think its the great deal we are being offered, I reckon there would friction with Rafa given the different outlooks they have on putting a shift of work in on the wing

I'd have Adriano, too. Just saying...

You tell them! I'll beat the drum, you steer the f***ing thing.

Ronaldinho for 12m and people are doubting it? We have frequently spent 3/4 of that on unproven players so why not spend the extra few million for one of the most talented footballers in the world? If it didnt work out Newcastle would always pay us £20m in 09/10.

hell be off to Italy, no midweek games other than the Euro games and they play the game at a sedate pace. the refs protect all the top players and he'll still be able to hang out at the bars and clubs most nights of the week.

if his head was in the right place, he'd be a star on most teams, but he seems to have gone to a strange place.

could he be the next Gazza?

I'd have gone with 'Malarkey'

I think the potential benefit is worth the risk. He's what? 27. And as talented as any player currently in the game. Why not.

Thats true, it will be a gamble, but will it be more of a gamble than paying £11m on Babel as an example

what are we gonna buy him with, coconuts?

can we have a disclaimer or a pre-cursor to these f***ing threads, along the lines of "if we get G and Hicks out..."
