Captain Buck Passing, played by "Stevie G", notes that the off-the field instability is affecting the Liverpool players.

I know what they mean - in this age of a globalised economy, wobbles from the top of the tree shake up the little people at the bottom. Except Gerrard is under contract, paid a hell of a lot of money and is more or less at the top of the tree anyway, insulated from all those goings on by lawyers and agents and a carnival of other lackeys, and essentially he finds himself only needing to kick a ball in the direction of team-mates or the oppostion net in order to earn his salary.

However, with his grasp of macroeconomics and world markets, he's surely seen that the problem off the field will hamper goings on on the field. It's nothing to do with Liverpool not playing well enough, and it's certainly not the manager's fault. It's all about two American blokes and some Arabs fighting over a brand. That alone makes the ball square, everyone's feet shaped like 50p's, makes legs heavy and makes people fall over more easily. It harangues refs, makes comedy errors, and makes even great players like Sissoko into bandy t***s unable to pass 2 yards to his own team. It makes Voronin and Kuyt look like they've wandered off from a tour.

Meanwhile, Twiki Benitez, the comedy interlude with the endearing robotic catchphrase, points the finger squarely at the Americans too, plopping himself right in the middle of a no-lose situation. If he gets sacked, he's a martyr. If he doesn't and the team underperforms, it's all the fault of the alien invaders. Fans of the franchise are none the wiser, but all too prepared to listen to a little fat man with a beard, sitting on his knee and nodding gamely at every sage utterance from the Iberian Shankly.

You're rubbish, but it's definitely not the fault of the two parties that can actually do anything directly about that. Keep nodding gamely, red types. You've been hoodwinked by more than Hicks and Gillette.

Considering the likes of Hansen, Kenny and one or two other have commented that off-field activities DO affect players I'd say that's a load of s****....

Sherwood pulled the "cobs" line

They are well paid, so they should just get on with it.

Very good Tim, you s*** c***.

Footballer Gives Cliched Response to Difficult Questions

We could talk about this til the cows come home, but at the end of the day, you shouldn't cry over spilt milk, said Carra.

I think it is an excuse just as it was at the start of the season to point to Pako (Ayesteran) leaving. We had a few bad results and everyone was talking.

“I said then you have to be strong mentally to play for Liverpool and things happen off the pitch and it don’t let it affect you.

“The results weren’t great in the Premiership last season so what was that down to? Know what I mean. The results haven’t been good enough because we haven’t been good enough. End of story.”

some cliche, that.

It's affecting us more than the players. FFS they are on 50k per week, so worrying becomes a little easier. Their salaries are guaranteed and they are still pampered despite their lacklustre performances of late. It's a good job Stevie isn't playing for a club like Luton were you don't know if you are even going to get paid. Now that might distract you a little. Then again it took two games to even finish them off even though they were in the process of potentially going under, selling off many of their players and their manager. My heart bleeds

The exact bulls*** argument that you gets pedalled by complete d****eads who fail to understand that footballers are in fact human beings.

How can you be depressed Stan? You are on 40k a week.

It's a load of s****. Mainly because it seeks to paint it as a black or white issue. It's neither all about the situation or nothing to do with the situation. The club, and very clearly the manager are unsettled. It's a load of b******s to suggest the current environment is anything but unhelpful and more than a mere distraction a distance away from anything to do with the management and players.

Is this the same Luton who are four points adrift in the drop zone of their division?

It's clear that it is affecting the team, we were doing well until all this started. Yes, Rafa doesn't help himself with certain selections, but we are a much better team than we have seen over recent weeks and some of the prolonger periods of poor play (we saw 5 matches in a row where we were shocking) have not been seen under this manager. It cannot be a coincidence.

Equally so, I would not expect the players to use it as an excuse in interviews.

The thing sickening thing is the yanks undermining the manager and the team, causing poor results (we've seen it over and over again at other clubs) and then using that poor performance to sack the manager.

When have facts ever been relevant to anything that Uncle Buck posts?
