honourablegeorge Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 ....thought he was excellent, involved in just about every goal while he was on the pitch, intelligent player.
Cobs Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 he played very well shame about his miss from Crouch's knock down early on, would have done wonders for his stats...
Mascherano Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I was really impressed with him last night. He works well with Crouch which is encouraging. Reasonable pace and good on the ball with both feet. A good team player too!
Behind Enemy Lines Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I had what must have been the Voronin Fan Club in front of me in the Main Stand. Obviously on a trip of a lifetime with their Ukrainian Flags an all.(scally near me, not quite knowing the difference between their & the Turkish flag, gave them a 'who are ya', and a couple of flicks of his fingers - class eh?!) They also got recognishing from Voronin at half time & when he came off.
mattster Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 HE did really well, but that was Voro's level last night.
honourablegeorge Posted November 7, 2007 Author Posted November 7, 2007 HE did really well, but that was Voro's level last night. Aye, Besiktas were a joke - the two central defenders and the keeper were laughable. But regardless, we were hungry, used the ball well, and murdered them worse than any Champion's League murdering ever recored in the history of Champions League murders, so the team are getting all the credit in the world as far as I'm concerned.
chiliking Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Voro is ace. He's such a good teamplayer. were Kuyt and Crouch uses to many touches, and too long time, I think Voro is capable of playing intelligent passes with fewer touches. And he's often direct, playing others into scoring positions. Don't ask me for examples, this is justa feeling I get when I see him play. That heel lay off for Gerrard was such a treat, and such an intelligent move. How much did we pay for him again?
Cooldude Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Very good player when playing off another genuine striker He can't play off Kuyt because Kuyt's always up field, meaning he has no one to play off He's a class act and should be given more of a chance
Leo No.8 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Voronin, even more so than Kuyt looks excellent when played with the right partner and in the right position. He's a very clever footballer with great strength on the ball and fantastic awareness as he showed last night. I can't help but think Voronin would form a seriously dangerous partnership with Torres, as he could link the play and hold the ball up, allowing El Nino to play right up on the last man which in turn would push the defenders deeper and allow FT to get into plenty of scoring positions. They've not started together often yet though if at all, but when Torres is fit I'd like to see that partnership. The way Crouch has played in the last few games as well, even though I've defended Kuyt I'd see him as 4th choice in the forward line pecking order for the time being.
Murphman Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 It must be me then. I simply can't see it with Voronin at all, and never have done since he came. In fact his goal against Toulouse worried me because everybody was imediately raving about him, whilst it was a great strike it was an average showing and he's been piss poor as often as he's played well this year. Don't get me wrong, he's not a BAD player but he wouldn't get a sniff with the other 3 and I don't see how he's what we need.

kick316 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Voronin has looked good whenever he plays with Torres or Couch. However he has been gash when paired with Kuyt. Having said that, Rafa will probably play the latter two against Fulham.

He's been gash plenty of times, but you have to concede he was excellent last night. Put Crouch in for the first goal (albeit with a deflection), crossed for Benayoun's first, put Riise in fo the shot that led to another, won the free kick for the third, put Gerrard in for his goal....the lad was great. And all that plus tacking back, winnign the ball, and generally working his denim jakcet off.
stressederic Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 His cross for Benayoun's first and the flick for Gerrard's goal were both measured to perfection.

Agree with that.
Flasher Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Voronin was good with Torres when they play together too.

Guest petelfc Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 He's a good, intelligent, experienced squad player and cost us nothing.
