Ste M Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 So you move to ridicule? If you fell out of love with your wife would it turn into hate? I doubt it.
Falconhoof Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 You'll ruin any chance of a debate by posting that pic. I'd just like to ask if anyone thought it was a good idea to start this game with Kuyt on his own upfront ?
Earl Hafler Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Similarities with Heskey - hard working forward who has been asked to sacrifice himself for the team and he's forgetting how to finish, how to be clinical. Crouch has to start on Tuesday.
redjersey Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I can't defend him any more. So where do you put him on the updated list of scapegoats? Above Riise and Sissoko or just coming up behind. This forum really is utter s*** lately.
DazzlaJ Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Id like to know how people think he is an intelligent player? just dont see it and he picks the wrong option far too many times.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I'd just like to ask if anyone thought it was a good idea to start this game with Kuyt on his own upfront ? Last 20 mins answers that question.
Crazy Horse Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 FFS Kuyt is an honest player, works hard, doesn't hide. He's not a great footballer, but there's no need to ridicule him. He doesn't pick the side.

I'd just like to ask if anyone thought it was a good idea to start this game with Kuyt on his own upfront ? Well I'm not saying Kuyt = donkey, but I don't think his first touch is good enough to play that role - holding the ball up and bringing Gerrard, Babel and co. into play. He didn't see much of the ball in the first half, in fairness, but when he did it was usually straight back to Blackburn in about 2 seconds.

He doesn't pick the side. Thats what annoys me most about this, not Kuyt, as you say its not his fault he's not a great footballer. Its the fact we spent upwards of 10 million on a workhorse forward and then keep playing him, game after game when all the evidence tells us were getting nowhere.

beejay Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Crisis of confidence affecting too many of our players. Sissoko v Marseilles, Kuyt v Blackburn - but why did these two play the full 90 mins when they were so obviously suffering? Still if Kuyt hadn't missed that sitter on 89 mins Rafa could have said he got it right.

Guest Ant Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I admire Kuyt, but I am forced to ask... Why does Rafa continously play a 'hard working' midfielder upfront it's f***ing bizarre
Jim D Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Similarities with Heskey - hard working forward who has been asked to sacrifice himself for the team and he's forgetting how to finish, how to be clinical. Crouch has to start on Tuesday. Nail on the head.

I'd just like to ask if anyone thought it was a good idea to start this game with Kuyt on his own upfront ? Of course not, he cant do it. Compounded with Gerrard playing 2nd striker, 20 yards too far up and it's CL final all over again, nothing like learning from mistakes. We only looked any good once a guy who can play centre forward came on and Gerrard was moved back onto their last midfield player.

Hassony Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I admire Kuyt, but I am forced to ask... Why does Rafa continously play a 'hard working' midfielder upfront it's f***ing bizarrethats what annoys me as well, even cisse is more suited to playing on his own up front, kuyt works well with another striker (torres or crouch) but playing him on his own upfront is bad for him and steve gerrard, last 20 minutes he much better, despite his missed chances, which are just the result of him being out of confidence because of the way he is being used

Tones Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Was very pleased with Kuyt last year. I am confident he will come good again. He has been poor lately and had a real stinker today, but i think he will get his confidence and form back.
dorgie Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Lone strikers need to have a good first touch to retain the ball for as long as possible when it's knocked up to them and/or a lot of pace so that they can run onto balls put behind the defence and/or an ability to knock in the one chance that might come their way in what is a very difficult role to play. I don't believe Kuyt has any of the above
Falconhoof Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Was very pleased with Kuyt last year. I am confident he will come good again. He has been poor lately and had a real stinker today, but i think he will get his confidence and form back. He had a decent season, no more. It was meant to be something he'd build on and get better this year now that he's settled in.He hasn't got the quality, its like watching an extremely hard working Paul Stewart.
Guest SpiritualWarrier Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 eh? I was being sarcastic - not to you, just being sarcastic. Rafa = You're a defender yes ?Player = YesRafa = Good You can play in midfield then. Rafa = You're a striker with a good scoring record yes ?Player = YesRafa = Good you can play on the wing then. Rafa's obsession with playing players out of position and his stubborness over rotation will ultimately result in us not winning the league and looking for a new manager during the summer. He has the players but not the nouse to use them.
