Transfer window in January

I know it's still a couple of months away, but I can't wait till the January transfer window opens and the possibility of adding to our squad, even though not that much business is generally done during the window.

The question is, what do we need? And do we need to get rid of (as opposed to waiting to the summer)?

With Crouchy's relationship with Rafa being frosty at best, I can't see him wanting to stick around, so we may need another striker (linked with Alfonso Alves a couple of weeks ago). Finally getting rid of Riise?

With regards to Harry sicknote, isn't he free to talk to other clubs in January?

We should have brought in a central defender in the summer when Paletta left, as the writing was on the wall for Sami (who has been a magnificient servant btw). So this is a must.

Do we go for a stop gap or try to find another Agger, as Carra is not getting any younger. Richards was mentioned in another thread, but don't think there's feck all chance considering the crazy money that'll be asked.

I still think we are short of wingers that would give us some cutting edge up front. Who though? No doubt Kaizer will mention Quaresma. I'd be happy with one that can play comfortably on both flanks.

This will all depend on Rafa's budget of course and what money we can get from any potential sales.

Apart from Torres, was disappointed with our business in the summer and think we are paying the price of it now (another subject altogether).
