I thought he was brilliant. The Arsenal midfield were running riot and the guy broke up numerous attacks and was one of a few who actually passed the ball to a team mate.

Was by some distance our MoM. Spoke to a friend who is an Arsenal fan who said he can't remember Arsenal ever facing a player who broke up as many of their attacks as Mascherano did. Was simply fantastic today. Him and Alonso look our best central midfield pairing, so all the more shame that Alonso is injured again.

Did well. That two footed tackle was spot on - just short of what would have got him a red card.

I thought we were going to sub him after that, like we did in Athens, but it's as well we didn't.

Loved how Gray went on for five minutes about that (only to end up saying the ref got it right by "only" giving him a yellow) but never even mentioned Adebayor's two footed lunge on carra that thankfully did no damage

Do people think he's more effective in a five man midfield?

He's good enough to be one of the two central midfielders in a 4 man midfield. He probably needs to be beside a player like Alonso, who can reliably keep the play ticking over but with a touch more creativity than Mascherano. If anything it's probably Gerrard who needs the extra freedom that the protection of a five man midfield would allow.

He did alright, had some woeful passes though and a few times he kept the ball to long and lost it.

Thats nit picking and you know it - Riise was easily the worst passer on the pitch today and no matter what you say it won't disguise the fact

The winner of that award goes to Kuyt and thats by some distance as well.

Riise did nothing but hoof the ball all day. It's an embarrassment that you can claim that Mascherano and Kuyt were worse than him in their use of the ball.

Mascherano was immense today. We have to sign him up on a permanent deal.

Where have I said Riise passed the ball better than Mascherano?

Stop making things up. its a bit daft.
