are both now the weakest link

although we are off to a good start i have already seen enough of Torres (number 1) and Vorinin (number 2) to say that our 3rd choice striker, KUYT, needs to concentrate more on getting into goalscoring positions, than chasing out onto the wing. and Crouch has to accept that he's 4th choice and thats only coz we aint got a 5th choice

Kuyt has so much more to his game than Voronin and will outscore him.

I cant think of one thing Kuyt has got to his game Voronin has not, but I can think of a few things the other way around.

Kuyt and Voronin are alright, Crouch is another story. I was ambivalent to him pre-season, not to bothered if he was sold but wouldn't argue if he stayed. This season Torres' play has highlighted how poor he really is, I think we need to replace him TBH. That Heskey fella looks alright.

to be honest suddenly Crouch, Kuyt, Benayoun and Riise no longer look good enough

Crouch would be okay as a bit part player, but a) we can't afford to have one of them if we're challenging on all 4 fronts b.) He wouldn't be happy at it

A ponytail ?

No pace, technique, a good touch and vision.

Or in other words most of whats important for a striker/link player.

Kuyt's first touch is crap

Kuyt has no pace (he runs like he's towing a fridge)

Kuyt goes walkabout on the wing

Kuyt will never score a goal like Vorinin did in Tolouse

Upper 90???? wtf?

Crazy commentary. But often far less offensive than Sky.

btw - he means the 90 degree angle between post and cross bar I think

Torres and Kuyt are the 1-2.

Anyone who thinks Voronin is better than Kuyt is quite frankly stupid.

exactly

Kuyt has been great this season, don't know why people have a problem with him

Just posted this in the Crouch thread, saw this one and thought it might as well go in 'ere an all....

Personally I think today proved that pairing, what I consider to be, our 3rd and 4th choice strikers together doesn't work.

From the few games they have played together, Torres and Kuyt look to have formed a pretty good partnership, one that no doubt most here would like to see week in week out. However, if that partnership has to be split, maybe through injury/fitness etc, it is IMO imperative that the remaining player starts. Don't really care who they partner out of Crouch or Voronin.

Kuyt's commitment is infectous andrubs off on everyone. He'd have closed down a lot of balls today.

Bit of a miss not having him.

He's definitely our second best striker, you;d have to be blind to not see it.

and probably obsessed with stats, grading players pace out of, say, 20

Voronin's a good player, a good signing but he is not better than Kuyt.

So let me ask again then, what is Kuyt better at apart from running aimlessly around the pitch chasing the ball?

How much of you seen of Voronin to say he's better? 4 games? We missed Kuyt today quite badly I thought.

I refuse to argue with you as I could sit here for six hours, have the entire population of the world agreeing with me, and you'd still be stubborn and tell that I, and billions of others are wrong, and you are correct.

From watching us this season, I think that Kuyt offers more to the team than Voronin. I can't see how people can say Voronin is better, I just can't.

A big indicator is the fact that one cost £12m and the other came on a Bosman from a mid table Bundesliga club. And no, I don't just players on their price tags.

Kuyt > Voronin.

(And I like Voronin)

And if you genuinely think that Kuyt just runs aimlessly, then you're even more of a ****** than I thought. Him and Torres have a good thing going, yet you'd like to break that up because you've decide Kuyt runs. And nothing else.

I'd give you a list, but I use my eyes, not the Opta Index.

I think it is far from clear cut that Kuyt is better than Voronin (or, what is really relevant, more effective in our way of playing) and I think there may be a real scrap between them at times for who partners Torres.

I don't mind that uncertainty. It is pretty healthy as it creates competition. Voronin has come in and taken people by surprise and it is for Kuyt to show what he is made of and respond. He's capable of doing that and I hope he does, but I think their status in Rafa's eyes is possibly a lot more equal than many people think.
