He was a good servant but he wouldn't get a game in our current team. We really have some classy players these days.

He's a good lad Danny - scored some important goals for us and always gave his best.

Hope Fulham works out for him and gets him back on track.

Agreed. I can't claim to be bessies with him or anything but know him to let on to and he's a good bloke.

More than capable of doing a job for any first team in the Prem excluding the top four.

Can't have a football-related thread like this without piccies to remind us of what Danny looks like!

many would say he shouldn't been in the team for the past few years!

Seems like he is in retirement mode.

Many might well say that. They would, of course, be wrong.

The form he showed at Charlton was terrific, he pulled the strings for them. He did it though in a 5 man midfield, where his lack of mobility was masked by having two other players alongside him. This allowed him the freedom to play rather than concentrate on defensive duties - see also Frank Lampard and Tim Cahill who are also only really effective in 5 man midfields.

There also seems to be a bit of a vogue at the moment for having 4 esentially central midfielders playing right across the midfield, and having full backs create the width, so that there's stability in a team. If Fulham go for this system Danny will get a game and do well. He's a very talented footballer, who with more pace and agility would be in the England squad ahead of lots of others.
