He might be a Brazilian International and no doubt a quality player but I dont think this is the time to start f***ing about with our spine, centre back is going to be a bit f***ed for this game so lets not start on centre mid either.

 

Toulouse might be a bit s**** but all it takes is a fluke early goal, then suddenly the tie is level, we cant afford to concede again and we dont have our best players on the pitch. Bring him on in the 2nd half if its comfortable enough.

 

If Lucas is to start a game soon I'd rather it be against the woeful Derby who wont even leave their half the whole game on Saturday.

Alot of that has to do with the poorer quality squad and experimental teams Rafa has put out. Last season we started with Bellamy up front on his own and Gerrard playing off of him, Zenden on the left wing, with Crouch, Garcia and Gonzalez coming off the bench. The previous season we fielded a reserve team. Carson was in goal and Josemi played at centre half. Warnock at left back. Darren Potter started the game on the right wing.

I don't thnk we'll muck about, Toulouse are a far better side than previous qualifiers. I don't expect many youngsters to play at all - Mascherano, Crouch & Yossi may well come in, but I think (and hope) we'll still field as strong a side as possible.

Hmmm... slightly tricky this. Granted we want to rest as many players as possible this is still a very important game. Yes we are the better side but if a major cockup occurs early on we should rather not be without some of our key players, including Alonso. Especially now when we have Carra and Stevie out. I'd say play it safe with the starting XI, hopefully we will steamroll them and use our subs later on.
