ShaunOfTheRed Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 ...and as much as I would hate to see him leave I wouldn't be surprised to see Sven make an offer for Peter Crouch. I've not the feeling that Rafa wants rid of Peter but rather he sees him as surplus for the right price. Who knows what the crazy Swede would pay with his new found fortunes but the right amount may allow Rafa to make one final attempt to sign Daniel Alves and put one over the Moaner at Chelsea. Flame on..............
San Diego Red Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Daniel Alves is excessively overrated. Crouch is worth keeping.
Michael Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Swap Crouch for Johnson and Richards and we might have a deal. Crouch would actually be a really good addition for them.
Falconhoof Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 He'd have to offer a lot of money.Something like what Spurs paid for Darren Bent. But we'd have to go out and buy a striker then.

At least, Crouchy has a better strike rate than Drogba. Can't see Rafa selling though and I hope that stays the same for a few years to come.
Benitez Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 (edited) Alves? But there has been no suggestion, or seemingly any effort to sign him this summer. Why do you think Rafa would sell a player just to make an attempt to sign a player he isn 't intersted in signing now? And why would he sell a striker to buy a right back, when we already have 2 good right backs? Seems a bit daft. Edited August 21, 2007 by Benitez
Guest Ant Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Crouch Might Leave But we will not get Alves...
Stevie H Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 the crazy Swededon't think svennis is crazy at all. he's probably about to make pretty much all english journalists and pundits look like idiots.
Cobs Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 don't think svennis is crazy at all. he's probably about to make pretty much all english journalists and pundits look like idiots.not to mention a stack of people on here..........

Sion Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I would carry Crouch on my back there if Richards was part of the deal, he's an amazing talent who will only get better and be a brilliant long term replacement when Carra starts to phase himself out in a few years. Still that said, I don't want Crouch to leave.
_00_deathscar Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Richards needs to play now though - how would you fit him in?
Sion Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Richards needs to play now though - how would you fit him in? He needs to play no less than Crouch does, or Babel does, but they're going to be heavily rotated. Our Back 4, of which excluding LB, Richards could play anywhere isn't set in stone, we need healthy competition. If Richards was to leave City, wherever he went he wouldn't be first choice. United - behind crackhead and Vidic, Chelsea - Behind a few of theirs.

Sion Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 He'd surely be first choice right back at Chelsea. Well it seems like Alves is as good as theirs. So I was including him in the equation, but yes he'd be the first choice RB now.

bazz Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Now is NOT the time to be selling Crouch We are trying to win the league and have already got 3 new strikers (Torres/Voronin/Babel(okay a forward)), Crouch is the only one the is experienced in our set up and it would be foolish to allow him to leave. Who are we to replace him with for the money we would get? The equilavant foreign striker with Champions League experience and would be used to the Premiership? We need as much upheaval at this stage of the season, we need to focus on winning the league. We have the players now and we have 4 quality strikers. We need all of them........what happens if we encounter a United situation - 3 strikers injured and 2 sold?? We are 2 games into the League campaign, Crouch will get the games.....everyone need to keep calm.
Guest Kaizer Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 We have 5 strikers at the moment Torres, Voronin, Babel, Kuyt and Crouch, we also have some talented youngsters that easiliy could fill in a game or two if injuries really should hit us. Sell Crouch to City and Kewell to Spurs and buy Quaresma from Porto, then we will be favorites to win the league.

Wtf Sell two of our expeirenced players and buy an unproven winger with no expeirence of the premiership (i.e. the trophy that we are focused on winning this year)? Sell two important player for a player boosted by his youtube standing. Unbelievable tripe

Will you shut up about pissing Quaresma, it's not happening, so just carry on wet dreaming. Crouch gives us another dimension, Vorinin and Kuyt are relatively small, Babel isn't a target man, and Torres may not be any good playing the Crouch role.

If he sees him as a forward then with Gerrard apparently set to play in the middle I could see the sense in selling Crouch and bringing in a winger.
Doyler3000 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Alves in the papers this morning saying he wants to go to Real Madrid
