True, I might have gone a little OTT. Benfica are a big club but when adu first came onto the scene, he was being linked with massive clubs, us, man ure, chelsea milan, real, inter etc. So its a bit surprising to seem him got to Portugal, which isnt as competitive as Italy england or spain. But I guess it may turn out to be a good move for him

regardless of his talent, it's a good move for him I think. If he does turn out to be the real deal, portugese football is an excellent stepping stone and with Benfica he gets to play with some great players and probably also get some CL football.

I thought he was totally overrated. However, seeing his latest performances, I'm starting to change my mind about him. he's put in some performances which have been absolutely dominating.

He's still a young kid, and he's very undersized but he is getting better, maturing, bulking up.

It's a good move for him and he's worth keeping an eye on.

For 1.5 million, he is a good gamble. I would have snapped him up for that and loaned him out.

He's officially 5'8"

I've heard he could be as short at 5'5".

yeah but it's not like he can do anything to beat that! he can't exactly make himself grow! he's short, but a fat b*****d.

is adu remotely likely to ever be in ronaldinho's bracket though?

Nah, just making the point that big talents are probably better off moving to clubs like Benfica or PSG because they're still pretty big clubs but they can get away with the odd dodgy performance here and there and mature as they should instead of going to a big club and having to perform straight away.

Besides, I don't think Adu was ever really that hyped, nobody ever really expected him to be world class, it was just a novelty to have a 14-year-old playing professionally.

I do think he could go on and be a very good player though, this could be a good move for him.
