I thought we desperately needed the type of player that can pop up with those tap-ins and rebounds in the six yard box. Players like Inzaghi at Milan or RVN are game winners who pop up after doing nothing for most of the game. Should Rafa be looking for this type of player. We certainly will have two hard working forwards in Torres and Kuyt but will either one of them be an instictive finisher from close range?

But he's injury prone...

Just keep him in the box and let him tap-in the easy ones. That shouldn't put him at too much risk of injury.

Torres strikes me as being capable of fulfilling that role to our needs.

I think Kuyt will spend a lot more time in the box with Torres now in the team. I think he'll start tucking away a few more chances now that he's settled in a bit too

Your volunteering to have a conversation with Will?

Conversation's not necessary, he has a powerpoint presentation and several graphs to explain how injured a lot and injury prone are totally different things

Make sure he has an intermission after the first 3 hours.

Dirk Kuyt is that player, witness the goal in the European Cup final, instinctive flick from close range, what Torres (and wingers) will enable Kuyt to do is to spend more time in the right areas EXPECTING the ball, rather than going to get it himself all the time. I think Kuyt will be a lot 'lazier' this season particularly at home.

I have high hopes for Kuyt this season. Less faffing about on Alonso's toes please Rafa and tell him to get stuck in the penalty area a lot more.

To be honest, the champions of the last 3 years (Chelsea, Chelsea, United) haven't had a goalpoacher. Ferguson sold van Nistelrooy to expand their style of play and they won the league. Chelsea got goals from more outlets with their championships and as a team suffered when Drogba got into more goalscoring positions himself.

I think Torres, Kuyt and Crouch is a very good trio to have upfront. If we can get more goals from the wide areas and a small contribution from central midfield (Sissoko, Mascherano, Alonso, maybe Lucas if he gets many games) and maybe 5 or so goals from the back four, we'll be a lot better.

Dirk Kuyt - scored 25+ goals in the fours seasons in Holland before he joined us.

With Torres alongside his doing more running than any of his partners did last season he'll get much more chance to be the 'Shearer' type of forward I thought he would be from the off, think we'll all see a different kind of Kuyt next season, an out-and-out goalscoring one like his previous 4-5 seasons when he was the main man.

Could be a deverstating partnership if big Dirk is left to get on with the job of putting the ball away.
