As per usual, he annoyed the feck out of me last night, with his constant hoofing, slackness at times etc.

Apart from Riise, we have the injury prone Aurelio, the highly promising Insua, who has looked pretty tastey in his few runouts since January and Arbeloa, who can also fill in there.

The question is does everyone think we need to stengthen at LB with all the above options?

If so, who out there should we be looking at that would substancially improve us defensively and possibly also in an attacking sense, combining comfortably with whoever is playing on the left side of midfield?

I think the money will go towards areas that need it more...wingers, strikers. I think Insuwill get more games next season, anyway I think Riise's a good player.

We can improve on Riise I'm sure of it.

That Insua looks to have a bit of understanding about him. Hopefully Aurelio comes back alright, my preference would be him.Either would be a better bet than the other guy.

Riise was clueless against Milan, had not got an idea of how to find a teammate. Insert other knee jerk reactions regarding Riise here <-.

I stand by my thoughts from August that Riise is not good enough for us defensively to be the first choice LB.

I like Riise and don't want him replaced, but he was so annoying last night. He's only 26 and I often think his hoofing and poor passing is just lazyness rather than technical inabilities.

With Aurellio and Insua to put pressure on him hopefully he'll improve for next year. He might even learn how to put a decent cross in.

But as part of our back 4 unit, he's very solid, holds the line well, and still runs an absolute marathon each game (it was Riise that chased the entire lenght of the field to catch up with and tackle Kaka in the final minutes last night).

If Aurelio is ever fit and I can him being our 1st left back next season, hes very classy and adds the value of taking a peach of a free kick and his whipped crossing which is nice on the eyes.

I'm a fan of Riise though, if he didnt hoof it he be 2x as good for it.

Quite happy with them two and Insua coming through... Brilliant Wide Men and Strikers please Senor Benitez

I have always had the feeling Riise cares more about Riise than Liverpool FC. His performance last night was woeful. Shetting out of tackles ambling back and randomnly shooting off target. I would leave him as a squad player until the NEW LB settles in. He is not good enough as a LB or LM.

I think Riise is a good attacking fullback, but it'd be nice to get in a quality defensive left back. Perhaps a good centre back who can also play left-back would be perfect, considering we need cover for Agger and Carragher.

Dunno who's available that fits the bill. Chivu from Roma is one of the few quality lb/cb's.

I saw Gerrard collect his medal on tv before, his expression was mirrored by every Liverpool fan. Riise was next, he was smiling and seemed pleased. For this reason he can f*** right off. I hope he never wears the shirt again. if he's not bothered about pickingup a losers medal then he's not in the right frame of mind to play. Sell him and sell him now.

ffs Kev

It's all about mindset. Look at Gerrard and Carra and Rafa in the papers and on tv, they are hurting so badly. If, after 15 or so minutes getting beat in the CL Final means as much that you can look happy it is just not right.

By all means be sporting and gracious but not look like you are looking forward to the next *Norwegian Ginger c**** Meeting.

*This does not including Norwegian Ginger c**** who are not called John Arne Riise.

We all know Riise is a thick c*** theres no need to get so worked up about it.

The thing that REALLY pissed me off about Riise last night and his general game in paticular is how he dithers on the ball, there where a couple of times last night when kewell was screaming for the ball and riise dithers, dithers, HOOF

He's been shocking this season from start to finish, don't know what the f*** is wrong with him.

He should have had another t***tting with a seven iron the way he sauntered back for their second goal. Your playing in the fecking CL Final win a tackle and make an effort FFS.

He's always been fairly shocking. Just hit it off with a few screamers and it has taken people this long to realise he's s****. I think some teams might well still have an interest in him though...

I don't consider Riise good enough defensively for left back. I don't consider him to have enough skill or crossing ability for left midfield.

He's extremely limited and the occasional long range blockbuster masks his deficiencies. I'd be quietly satisfied if he was moved on this summer.

(This is especially true if he was smiling while collecting his medal. I couldn't even watch the presentation.)

A player who's impressed me this season is Nicky Shorey, Reading's LB. A real cool customer, no hoofs from this guy - mentally probably the complete opposite of Riise. I will be interested to see how he plays for England tomorrow.
