downunder Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 we all go on about needing 2 goals, remember 1-0 will get us to extra time, yes we need to stop them scoring but if we focus on playing our normal game a 1-0 win is easily within us, then Extra Time, and our 'freshness' will be an advantage. Thinking of only having to get 1 makes it seem more gettable.

NWR Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 You have to attack them now. Counter attack will be their game.I still think you will go through though because it was in a dream I had the week before the season started.
Saintslfc13 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 guys don't even trip... See the problem today was I had school so I didnt get to see the game. However next week I'm skipping school to watch the match on tuesday. It'll be ok I promise. Of course to stay on topic I think Rafa will have somethin nice for them next week, and I hope its in the form of Harry Kewell (never thought i'd say that)
John am Rhein Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We need 1 goal. After that it's a new game. Concede a goal and we're f*cked.
psl Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We need 1 goal. After that it's a new game. Concede a goal and we're f*cked. Do wish we'd got Drogba booked.
Mike Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 being a goal down means we know exactly what we have to do on our patch. it ain't so bad.
psl Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Its only bad if they score. We're very much still in it currently. And if they do, we'll have to get 3 again. f*** it, this is our competition.
Puskas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We need 1 goal. After that it's a new game. Concede a goal and we're f*cked.Concede a goal and we'll need three. We've scored three when we've needed to before, more than once. Do wish we'd got Drogba booked. He won't be as effective in the next match, he'll be walking on eggshells hoping not to get booked for the final - which he won't be in anyway as Chelsea are going to lose.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We need 1 goal. After that it's a new game. Concede a goal and we're f*cked. I am confident enough about being able to score at anfield. And if it goes to penalties, I'll eat my hat if Reina doesn't win the game for us convincingly. But we need to be at our defensive best all the same. Can't see us scoring three against such a solid side.
Puskas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 But we need to be at our defensive best all the same. Can't see us scoring three against such a solid side.I thought the same at half time against Milan...
Mikey Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We were p1ss poor and only lost 1-0, thats the positive from last night for me. If we play well at home we can still do this but if half our team don't turn up like last night it won't matter anyway.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I think chelsea are more solid than Milan were. They've conceded 3 goals all of three times under mourinho, against bayern, boro and tottenham. And And bayern and spurs both conceded more than one to do so. It's gonna be an incredibly difficult task if it comes down to that.
koppper Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 They looked far fresher and fitter than us last night... Did you miss the second half?
pipnasty Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We've beat them 2-0 already this season so we are more than capable of doing it again. It is half-time in the tie and so far we have been pretty poor but we are only 1 goal down - it could and possibly should have been worse. If we play like we are capable of, we will win at Anfield and I am really confident that this will happen. I'm not convinced that Chelsea WILL score as some have suggested - again, we have kept plenty of clean sheets against them.
andysama Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Chelsea have scored once against us in all our champions league matches. They could have humped us last night and didn?t. I can certainly envisage us keeping a clean sheet at Anfield, It?s game on!

Mikey Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 How many European Cups have they won though eh? EH?My closing quote to a couple of rowdy 'new' Chelsea fans last night was "If you do go on and win it, it will be £500M well spent and you will deserve to be classed along with the other European giants that have won it once like PSV and Villa, maybe you'll actually sell all of your ticket allocation this time as well, big club my@rse" Sometimes its great being the landlord!
meepins Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Do wish we'd got Drogba booked.Mourinho had that ref in his pocket. Carra was getting in his face when he acknowledged the Chelsea players were diving, waving play to continue without them and yet refused to book them despite all the obvious diving. Merk also awarded them numerous free kicks for clear dives.
Spiblish Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We will go through next week. Stop all the worrying and get ready for another of those great Anfield nights!
Guest Disintegration Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) Mourinho had that ref in his pocket. Carra was getting in his face when he acknowledged the Chelsea players were diving, waving play to continue without them and yet refused to book them despite all the obvious diving. Merk also awarded them numerous free kicks for clear dives. The referee was very poor, and Carragher's protests were quite right. Some officials just appreciate the extra bit of pocket money more than others. It's not a new thing, and it's a shame that investigations haven't been held elsewhere as they were in Italy. Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) ffs. It's preposterous to state as fact that the ref has been bribed because he happens to favour the home team in the close calls. Edited April 26, 2007 by Anders Honoré
Guest Disintegration Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) ffs. It's preposterous to state as fact that the ref has been bribed because he happens to favour the home team in the close calls. It's not just yesterday's referee in particular, but a great many decisions lately favouring certain sides. There's been a pattern to it and I don't really mean to suggest that yesterday's ref was necessarily bent - The reality is probably that he just had a bad game and that he recognises that - but I've seen so many dubious decisions across Europe that I find it hard to trust refs in the current climate. Any set of dubious decisions set the cynicism levels racing out of frustration more than anything else. I don't think Italy is the only country to have underhand tactics involving monetary contributions to match officials, put it that way. But - in a rare show of progressiveness for that country - they've been the only one to deal with it thus far. Edited April 26, 2007 by Disintegration
Raj Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Merk was a f***in joke yesterday. Every single long ball to Drogba resulted in Drogba backing into Carragher or Agger. It happened 20 times last night and the ref bottled every decision. The diving issues were so blatant that I cannot believe that a top class european referee overlooked it.
Cobs Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 ffs. It's preposterous to state as fact that the ref has been bribed because he happens to favour the home team in the close calls. CHELSEA FAN !!!!!!!!
