Guest Cameron Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Good lord, from the reaction I've seen on some forums discussing the England game you'd think he committed the crime of the century! On one forum I frequent people were demanding video clips and feigning rage at the thought of an England player taking a tumble (never mind the fact the Andorrans were doing far worse). On the manc site Redcafe our friend NWR dedicates an entire thread to Stevie's antics, with a variety of indignant mancs joining in, completely ignoring the fact Stevie saved England from humiliation and was our best player. But all they're interested in is the dive! It wasn't even that bad, compared with what their beloved Ronaldo has conjured up this season. But of course it's okay when he does it since a good performance oversahdows such things, but when it's a Liverpool player, match-saving performance or not, he has to be the scum of the earth!
Lee W Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I had my Wenger glasses on but to be fair, Ronaldo has dived AND put in match saving performances for the Mancs, so fair do's. NWR is a bell though.
San Diego Red Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I find a lot of mancs are two-faced. They defend diving, and the second a non manc dives, they stand up and hammer the diver. f***ing hell get over it you manc idiots. Their winking w***** in Ronaldo dives to and fro and they could care less. But when Stevie Gerrard dives, 'oh no no no it shouldn't be done, it's cheating!' f***
fyds Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 David Phatt tonight : 'Stevie dived there'David Phatt Saturday : 'Frank merely anticipated the tackle'

Completely pointless argument given that there is not a single club in the country who can take the moral high ground or claim to be totally free of divers. And that is without even mentioning the fact that I couldn't give a f*** what Manc fans, David Platt or any of the media think of Liverpool players, particularly when they are commenting on something that happened when they were playing for England. Thread should be in the General Football Forum.

Lee W Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 spot on his dive was embarressing but I really cringed at his goal celebrations What did he do ?
Woodsyla Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 (edited) his dive was embarressing He went down in stages, if Rooney had done that we'd slaughter him Edited March 29, 2007 by Woodsyla
Knox_Harrington Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Gerrard needs to get better at diving and then dive more.
Leo No.8 Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 in response to all this...really, who gives a f***. My sentiments exactly...
Benitez Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Good lord, from the reaction I've seen on some forums discussing the England game you'd think he committed the crime of the century! But of course it's okay when he does it since a good performance oversahdows such things, but when it's a Liverpool player, match-saving performance or not, he has to be the scum of the earth! but we do the same when other team's players dive. So what do you expect? Being a bit sensitive if you tell me. And if you insist on going on Manc w*** forums, then more fool you Players dive, time to stop being so precious about it and pretending that good old Stevie is exempt from critisisim just cos he scored 2 goals against Andorra. Ronaldo has carried ManUtd on his shoulders to the league title this season, so by your call, that should make him exempt as well.
Cobs Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 NWR is a bell though. Gerrard needs to get better at diving and then dive more. in response to all this...really, who gives a f***.
John am Rhein Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I find a lot of mancs are two-faced. They defend diving, and the second a non manc dives, they stand up and hammer the diver. I'm equally two faced. I'll defend diving but the second a manc dives, I'll stand up and hammer the manc. Not because he's a diver, because he's a manc. The're f*cking scum!
Leo No.8 Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 We're all two faced (biased) let's face it, it comes as part and parcel of the passion we have for our team. You just have to try and suppress that bias as much as you can and be objective as possible in the cold light of day. At the ground on matchday, I'm ridiculously biased - every decision the ref gives against us is wrong, every player in the opposition who is fouled a diver, every offside against us wrong. I just can't help myself. But I'd like to think I can come away and be a bit more objective on a forum, it's one of the reasons I like these places because they help you to do so. That said I'm still going to defend my own player and abuse an opposition player for the same offence to a certain extent, because support has to go beyond reason at times...
CarraLegend Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Gerrard needs to get better at diving and then dive more. Agreed, he's f***ing awful at it. Hopefully Alves can teach him how to do it properly for next season.
Ostrich Man Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 why? is it not cheating when you dont get a penalty?
Cobs Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 it was cheating rather not see it certainly don't want to hear Gerrard going on about other players going to ground too easy again BUT when the best player in the country currently does it all the time and gets away with it, it's time to get better at it and do it more too. Heard some manc criticising Shreeves for not taking Gerrard to task over it like he did Ronaldo - which would be a fair point but for the fact it wasn't an incident that decided the match.
matty Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 why? is it not cheating when you dont get a penalty? Wonder why a manc chose to respond to that? I didn't see the game so I was asking what happened.

Plus, Ronaldo does it every ten minutes or so. Didn't he get booked for doing it again last week for Portugal?
Cobs Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Plus, Ronaldo does it every ten minutes or so. Didn't he get booked for doing it again last week for Portugal?no idea he gets away with it far more than he's cautioned for it, that's for sure.
Guz Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 It was a dive, Gerrard has dived before, he'll do it again as will lots and lots of players every game. It's cheating and I don't like to see it. Dont care if it's not the crime of the century, it's embarassing when he or any amazingly talented footballer does it.
Ostrich Man Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Wonder why a manc chose to respond to that? I didn't see the game so I was asking what happened.cause i thought you were gonna try to make some s*** point about Ronaldo, obviously.
