Not sure either of them have the attitude or professionalism Rafa demands. I rekon Alves has been Rafas #1 target since he came here and still is.

All well and good about Alves, just a pity he's a RB when we have Finnan. It's left side we're in need of.

Also, does signing Arbeloa mean that Rafa might have given up on Alves? I know that if Alves comes it seems he'll be an improvement on Finnan, but it's a real pity as he's one of our better performers and there are other areas to strengthen.

So he makes his name as an RB, and we play him at RM? I also still see Gerrard playing a lot of games there.

Ideally my first choice right side would be Alves and Gerrard, which would allow Alves to bomb on and Gerrard to roam knowing he's being covered by 'superman' at the back.

Alves is perfect for Rafa as he has the attributes going forward and obviously being a right back he has defensive discipline that Rafa demands. I have a feeling he will end up at Barcelona with Zambrotta switching to left back. Also, playing right midfield would hardly be great for his international career considering how Brazil play with wing backs.

Why would he prioritize his international career over club football?

Also has it occurred to people that Finnan is getting on? We will need a long term replacement for him, and also another option for the right in case he starts to tire or his quality drops a bit.

Remember, we have no second right back in the side right now.

you're in cuckoo land if you think he wouldn't bite their hands off if there was any chance of signing them.

Dunno Anders. Eto'o is always gobbing off which suggests a lack of maurity, Ronnie is following the Rooney pie diet and believes his own hype. I'm not sure Rafa could be arsed. He likes players who are already motivated, not need motivating.

Refer to Ballemy.

If you believe that Ronaldhino is fat and is a player without motivation, then you are giving the press too much credit in their attempt to write a story out of very little fact.

Some of the observations here about Eto and Ronaldhino being rubbish on account of their two mediocre games against us are plain stupid.

Eto'o looks like he's not arsed about Barca anymore

Looked half fit, and rushed back from injury

Finnan is the same age as Carra, no?

Believe me Alves plays right-back, but I wouldn't call what he has 'discipline'. Basically rather than holding positional awareness, he's got the ability to run constantly at full speed for 90 minutes. I watched the Barca v Sevilla game having recorded it on Sky+ the other night, and I thought when I'd pressed play somehow Alves was still stuck on x12 forward, he's a complete freak (in a good way).

Basically Alves is the perfect example of attack being the best form of defence; he seems to spend the majority of the game on the right wing anyway, and I think he'd be sensational here either in front of Finnan or behind Gerrard when we wanted to rest Finnan.

Our right side is very strong anyway, but this lad is so good you sign him then worry about fitting him in.

Read it again. I didn't say they were rubbish. I said their attitude leaves a lot to be desired.
