Andy @ Allerton Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 (edited) We scored three great goals. Nice to see Fowler on the scoresheet. The fans were superb throughout - we shipped six goals and yet applauded the team off, sang and sang We showed our class as fans again by applauding Arsenal off the pitch It annoyed all the bandwagon jumping fairweather 'fans' that don't actually ever go and spend their time whining on phone ins when it's going wrong (And take all the credit when it goes right) - which has to be a good thing Rafa will have more of an idea of the capabilities and strengths (And more importantly the weaknesses) of his squad than he did before We're still in a very good position in the league We're going to win the European Cup! Billy Dane Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 we won't have to fork out on tickets for more cup games and 2 finals?
Andy @ Allerton Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Not often you go to a game and see 9 cracking goals and a penalty save! Now That's Entertainment!
Guest Greasy Belcher Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 This thread could run forever! or at least untill the prozac wears off.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 The only positive from the football side of the game is that we rallied at 1-5 to make it 3-5 and had Arsenal not stuck away a sucker punch to make it 3-6, we had 10 mins of normal time and 4 mins of injury time to hammer away at their defence to get another and give us a chance - that was positive. Bellamy's tireless work ethic giving us an option in attack was the only positive from a player - Fowler offers very little if we are attacking from deep, his talent is when we get into the final 3rd he can find a bit of space and his finishing is clinical, playing balls from deep though he is of little help.
Kahnee Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I find myself agreeing with an Andy thread. Sorry, that's a negative...
ManxRed Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Another positive: I prolonged the life of the cathode ray tube in the telly by 45 mins after I turned off at half time? I'm struggling here.
Sion Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I was too pissed to move and get supplies at HT so I saved myself a fiver. Is that a positive?
Magic8Ball Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 we've been taught a lesson TWICE but we are still in 3rd place and should be better prepared for the champions league
XabisBadFoot Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I think last night was the BEST thing that could happen to us. We are clearly nowhere near Arsenal when it comes to the Youth system, and it showed! Peltier, Paletta and Guthrie wouldn't get into a Championship side let alone ours, and if they are the best we have to offer, then things aren't looking good at all. Maybe now will be the time for a big oul clearout. (Behind the scenes I mean). Rafa bangs on about his squad and the use of it, but our squad just isn't up to it. Simple as that.
Hector McDougal Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 (edited) On the subject of our fans Paul Doyle has a pretty stupid article in the guardian today.http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2007/01/...ey_deserve.htmlHe suggests that we should have walked out at half timeas we were 4-1 down. Should we have done that in Istanbul too when we were also losing by 3 goals? Edited January 10, 2007 by Hector McDougal
jon_hall Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I'm somehow still off the ale, even after two defeats in four days whilst conceding nine goals.
Puskas Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Gerrard scored a(nother) corker Paletta picked up a couple of assists (the cross for our third was fantastic) Gonzalez's injury turned out to be less serious than first thoughtWe don't have any more domestic cup games this season so we won't be seeing any more of Dudek
Tobes Rafa Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 That we will never have to see a teamsheet with the name "Dudek" in goal again since we are out of the cups. I really wish he had left on a high after Istanbul.
DarthVader Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I like Fowler's goal,pure striker's instinct.
RedMarauder Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I came back from 2-0 down to win my game of squash about 1/2 an hour before the start of the game, and trying to be positive err..... .... Guthrie was promising / Thumbs up to the fans / I am no longer in a catatonic state as I was for the last 20 mins last night...

Not sure about out on the right though as he doesn't seem the quickest.
