Cunny Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 well worth a watch especially the goal after 4 minutes 37 seconds!
Falconhoof Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Where do people rank him among the all time greats ?
DazzlaJ Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Well for me it Maradona, then a level below that includes players like Pele, Zico, Platini etc.
Falconhoof Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Well for me it Maradona, then a level below that includes players like Pele, Zico, Platini etc. Interesting because thats about the first time i've heard his name mentioned on that kind of list. i'd say he's underrated and largely ignored when people compile the lists of the greats.
Cunny Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 Well for me it Maradona, then a level below that includes players like Pele, Zico, Platini etc. can't argue with that
Bootle Buck Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Where do people rank him among the all time greats ? IMO the 2nd greatest Brazilian player ever. With only Pele beating him. He was an absolutely superb player and a great athlete. When he played it seemed like he was evertwhere.
shaq Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 My favourite non-Liverpool player as a kid. Third best in the world for me, after Pele and Maradona.
lammyrider Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 loved him as a kid too some of those goals were brilliant
drdooom Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 (edited) Zico was my favourite non Ian Rush player of that generation. Watching him and that Brazil team in the 1982 world cup was awesome. Curse you, Paolo Rossi. He didn't just score goals either, he made them too. They could make videos of his through balls as well. Edited December 22, 2006 by drcrouchy
Cobs Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 This is my oldest mate in the World, - interviewing Zico just before his team Rio Rebels played a team of ageing Brazilian stars - they got beat 18-1, he was marking Zico and he said he never got a kick all match.
floyd Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 My favourite non-Liverpool player as a kid. Third best in the world for me, after Pele and Maradona.agree their (except Maradona and Pele), It always why no big Italian or Spanish club came hin for him early in his career, only when Udinese came in for him, did he get that move. bit late but still care off Wikepedia he didn't do too bad In the 1983-84 Italian League season, Zico scored 19 goals - one less than the championship top scorer Platini, having played 6 matches less than the French player.
Nebraska Red Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 he loved to take the pi$$ and totally embarass defenders before walking the ball in. a great player amongst many at that time.
intense enigma Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 That turn to leave Gentile for dead before setting up Socrates in Spain 82 is one of the best i've seen...even more so since Gentile is one crazy b@astard.
Benzo-13 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Well for me it Maradona, then a level below that includes players like Pele, Zico, Platini etc. Same here. Zidane would have to be in there too.
