Fewer young players this time around according to Rafa.

To be expected really although if one of Gerrard or Alonso gets a little knock our xmas period with some tough games could be f***ed.

But beat these and hopefully draw Wycombe/Charlton in the Semi and we're in the Final. I assume Chelsea will get through though so if we do we'll get them then the media can w*** over us having 3 games against them in quick succession

Excuse me for being a thick git - but is this a two legged affair?

No, the Semi is though.

On another subject, Arsenal havent even sold 2k tickets yet. Kids or not thats pitiful and theyve taken only 3k for the FA Cup game which is obviously good for more of our lot.

I had a quick look on an arsenal fans site and was surprised at how many said they 'weren't arsed about this game'

Most of their fans are expecting them to get beat and then come and beat us in the cup and the league.

and then come and beat us in the cup and the league.

 They'll be in for a big surprise then. I'd say the most likely game they would win would be tomorrow if we rest a few of our better players.

The league game will be closely contested. I'm confident of course but they'll be a lot stronger in the league. They'll have the likes of Lauren and Henry back by then and they played very well at Old Trafford.

Arsenals provisional squad...

Almunia, Poom, Hoyte, Lauren, Senderos, Djourou, Flamini, Walcott, Song, Denilson, Randall, Traore, Aliadiere, Connolly, Garry, Perez.

think we should rest a few if Arsenals team is from this lot no need to risk Gerrard or Alonso for this one.

We can't really rest Gerrard and Alonso with Momo and Bolo out. Think one of them will play.

Interesting game as Arsenal usually play the youngsters in the League Cup but many of them are now first team regulars so they may be forced to play an even younger group. I think Rafa will have a good mix of Experience and youth

Dudek

Peltier Carra Agger Aurelio

Pennant Gerrard Guthrie Gonzalez

Crouch Fowler

Thats a solid back line for Arsenal, put Flamini, Walcott and Aliadiere in there aswell and thats 3 strong squad players aswell.

Full strength squad. Rafa probably wants to keep the momentum of the last couple of weeks going.

I am looking for a non-standard bet for tonight, what would you go for

1st Goal before 28th min EVS

1st Goal after 28th min 21/20

Player to score in 90 mins

Bellamy, Crouch, Fowler all 6/4

Gerrard, Garcia 2/1

Liverpool to be the team that scores 1st goal

4/7

No. of goals

15/8 0 OR 1

10/11 2 OR 3

3/1 4 OR MORE

Looking to stick EUR 20 on just to get a few quid back to pay for the pints, nothing special like a 10/1 shot (Riise to score 1st or something like that).

What would you go for or think likely

Arsenal.com

Arsene Wenger has named his 16-man squad for tonight's Carling Cup quarter-final at Anfield:

Kolo Toure - Age 25 - Ivory Coast

Philippe Senderos - Age 21 - Switzerland

Tomas Rosicky - Age 26 - Czech Republic

Julio Baptista - Age 25 - Brazil

Lauren - Age 29 - Cameroon

Denilson - Age 18 - Brazil

Alexandre Song - Age 19 - Cameroon

Mart Poom - Age 34 - Estonia

Manuel Almunia - Age 29 - Spain

Jeremie Aliadiere - Age 23 - France

Justin Hoyte - Age 22 - England

Theo Walcott - Age 17 - England

Armand Traore - Age 17 - France

Joseph O?Cearuill - Age 19 - Republic of Ireland

Fran Merida - Age 16 - Spain

Mark Randall - Age 17 - England

the team picks itself then:

---------------------almunia----------------------

hoyte-------kolo-------senderos-------traore

walcott--baptista--song--denilson--rosicky

---------------------aliadiere--------------------

although I´d rather have Fran Merida in there as opposed to Song. Even if he is.........

According to Bascombe Guthrie's included and Fowler could start:

Youngsters Danny Guthrie and Lee Peltier have both been included in the squad.

RAFA BENITEZ is considering thrusting Robbie Fowler back into Carling Cupaction against the side he's terrorised for Liverpool.

The Anfield boss won't finalise his line-up until after a final training session today, but after moving second in the club's all-time scoring list for the competition in the last round, Fowler's hopes of a recall are high.
