when i watched him last season in spain he seemed much, much faster then he seems now.

does anyone else feels the same way?

i still love him though and thinks he can be a very good player for us.

He's been struggling with an illness apparently and maybe isn't fully recovered. He skinned his man on a couple of occasions midweek but left the ball behind so it looked like the defender had retrieved his ground. He's quick OK, just needs time to settle in.

I like how people always qualify criticisms with "I love him but"

such as "I love Rafa but"

"I love Gerrard but".......its almost as if there is a fear of appearing too critical so you preempt it with a "I love him"

He's lacking confidence and fitness. He needs one good game then he'll kick start I'm sure.

He also needs regular games, like all our players unfortunately.

I think he does look speedy but he's getting to know what does and doesn't work at this level. In Spain I imagine he gets a bit more time on the ball to choose his options. If he's pressured it will lead to more mistakes, like running the ball out of play and so on. He'll come good - you can see the potential.

I love you anfield, but what is your point?

Don't think he was poor the other night at all.

Covered Riise well. Worked hard to find space, collected the ball well whenever it got to him and tried his best to push his marker backwards. Yeah, some things didn't come off and he was trying too hard but I saw some goods things from him. He's a great crosser of the ball and he's very good in the air for his height. Just needs others to play better around him to give him the confidence to play his own game.

I like the look of him and want to see him get an extended run in the side at LM.

How many times did he beat his man and/or put a decent ball into the box/ That's what you want from a winger.

I really like him, but he was poor the other night.

You've got to extend some sympathy to anyone called Gonzales due to certain expectations that inevitably go with the name.

I think the likes of Bellamy, Speedy and Pennant are asked to do much more than was expected of them at their previous clubs. I am sure it is hard to change after so many years. However, Rafa likes his players to get back and cover and they will learn. Even Bellamy said at Blackburn nothing much was expected of him other than to get the ball too him as quickly as possible.

John Welsh had potential. So did Le Tallec, Titus Bramble, Boumsong, Cherno Samba...

I don't think Titus ever had potential :D

He'll look speedy if someone in the side actually had the common sense to pass the ball to him in space or isolated against a full back.
