Guest Portly Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 ............ on a three month loan deal! He'll be back.
Kahnee Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I still have a soft spot for Diao - highly intelligent bloke, despite what his current behaviour would suggest - and was doing OK until being stuck in as a central defender, and then blamed for the defeat, against Bolton.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 "I need to be playing regular, competitive football and Stoke will give me that chance," said Diao. "The Championship is tough, but I need that to get my sharpness back."

Gomez Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Contract ends in January, and in the spirit of Christmas Pantos..... OH NO HE WONT Are you certain? Thought his contact was up in June. He's free to talk to people in Jan, but as he's free to leave as it is, that really makes no difference.

Aye, that was just madness. The same thing happened to Heskey when GH started playing him wide - his form slumped and the fans got on his back Also, i will never ever forget him coming on as a sub instead of Welsh, game already in the bag - just prior to Diao starting a 3 match ban. Feck, they were dark days.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Aye, that was just madness. The same thing happened to Heskey when GH started playing him wide - his form slumped and the fans got on his back Actually, I think the fans started getting on his back when he was limping around upfront looking sorry for himself, and when he did get a one on one chance he usually hit it wide, at the keeper or fell over.

The last minute one against the Mancs at the Kop end springs to mind all the time...
Guest Jack Bauer Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 That's what I'm refering to when he fell over.

stressederic Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 The last minute one against the Mancs at the Kop end springs to mind all the time... Chills the blood doesn't it?
Benzo-13 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Chills the blood doesn't it? Scarred for life... I was in a bar in New York at 7 in the morning watchin it.. Lost the plot when he did that.
Sion Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Maybe we should offer Salif a new 4 year contract, for old times sake.
stressederic Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Scarred for life... I was in a bar in New York at 7 in the morning watchin it.. Lost the plot when he did that. It was the fact he essentially managed to kick his own leg out from beneath himself that did it for me. I was very very not happy.

Boca Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Done deal Stoke City have completed the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Salif Diao. The Senegal international has agreed to a three-month spell at The Britannia Stadium after struggling to establish himself at Anfield since Rafa Benitez took over at the helm. Injuries and new arrivals have hampered his progress, and as a result he has had loans with Premiership clubs Birmingham City and Portsmouth over the course of the last two seasons. With the 29-year-old's contract set to expire this summer, Potters boss Tony Pulis has revealed that he has long been keen to add to his squad's experience at the top level. "We've been monitoring Salif for a while now and have had very good reports about the kid," Pulis told the club's website. "He played 40 games in his first season at Liverpool, he's still only 29 and he's desperate to play football." The Britannia Stadium outfit have had too many draws in The Championship so far this season and currently hover perilously above the drop zone. Potters fans will be hoping Diao can improve the side's killer instinct ahead of the tough trip to Leeds United on Saturday. Sky sports
trowie Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 "We've been monitoring Salif for a while now and have had very good reports about the kid," Pulis told the club's website. Where? What? Have they been watching monitoring the right Diao
cymrococh Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 "We've been monitoring Salif for a while now and have had very good reports about the kid," Seriously, from who?
jimmylibel Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Seriously, from who? Of greater concern for the Stoke fans should be why Pulis thinks he's desperate to play football."
Rich Gobey Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Seriously, from who? Raphael Benitez and Richard Parry
Kahnee Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Raphael Benitez and Richard Parry Not to mention a Mr Stephen Gerard...
RP Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Not to mention a Mr Stephen Gerard... And Sami Hyppia?
