Seriously though, we might feel we currently have the edge on them (I do anyway) and to the outside world the Liverpool V Chelsea grudge matches have helped us no end I feel ,but ManU are still up their beating us in the league last season with Giggs and OShea in CM positions.

So many players have turned them down this season. Anyone got any ideas? Is it just the cycle of football? Are manU precieved as a club on the slide? Not as fashionable as a few years ago?

P.S. It's great though! :D

P.P.S They will probably sign 5 world class players tomorrow!

Who has actually turned them down then? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Torres who elected to stay with Athletico.

if they get Hargreaves as it seems the will, then with carrick, the midfield from last year, that helped them to 2nd in the league, will be hugely improved. So I dunno how bad it really can be!

Dunno how much 'difficulty' they are having, as I haven't followed all the transfer sagas!

Torres and Ballack for starters. Two players who would walk straight into their team. I know they were after a host of other midfielders all of which hasn't happened.

They've been linked with plenty, doesn't mean they've been turned down. Torres decided to stay with his club which is fair enough and Ballack was offered £130k a week with Chelsea and a better chance to win trophies.

In seasons gone by they tended to fork out big money on 1 player each year....eg Ferdinand & Rooney. However, they didn't get as much CL money last season as they usually do and also perhaps their substantial season ticket money is now being used to service the Glazier's debts that the club inherited.

Stability? Ferguson probably has one season left. I'd have thought a lot of top players are looking for a more long term move if they up sticks to England. A change of manager can put your place at the club up in the air.

I don't think they are the financial force they once were post the takeover.

All much to my delight I might add. Roll on the decline.

funny things is that they have had a gaping hole ine th middle of the field for about three sesons now, and just as they finally begin to fill it withe th sort of players they should have got in three or four years back, the rest of the team starts falling apart.... Placcy's not interested in being there any more, Giggs is nearing his pension, RVN's gone and they've got no real replacement for him....

i think our winning some very exciting recent cup finals may have swayed some of these converts. rafa (unlike the big mouth mourinho or ginsoak fergie) have a certain class to him. and the way the fans adore him further helps (eg rafatollah piccy). also we don't necessarily go for big names, rather missing pieces that can fit rafa's furniture collection.
