The Lyon left back, has for me been the best French player on the park in their last 2 games. Good players like Zidane and Makelele clearly rate the guy, based on the amount of the ball he sees.

IMO, Warnock will never be the answer, Riise is decent going forward, but average defensively.

The Aurelio deal (if there ever was one) shows no evidence of happening.

Worth a look ?

Too costly ?

I still think Aurelio will sign. With him and Riise, we are covered for LB, even should Warnock and Traore both move on. Not a priority.

Hope you are correct, however, I disagree on your assertion, that left-back is not a priority.

IMO, teams have and will do so in the future the left-back weakness (in a similar way that the vastly over-rated (defensively) Ashley Cole, is targetted Internationally).

Abidal reminds me of a far less clumsy, gangly Traore.

doesnt Aurelio join on 01st July or did I dream it?

Dunno if that was officially annonced or that, but players very rarely join up before that date - no point us paying them £40K a week while they're in Barbados on holiday.

his contract runs out at the end of June so I assume he will sign on 01st July......

I am sure I have read it a few times, but then I may have made a leap of faith

I think until Aurelio signs for someone else, it is likely that he is coming here. If it is all agreed as reliable sources have said, he won't sign until July 1st as it appears to be the norm for contracts to expire on June 30th.

I am not sure his answer is right. I do think it's to do with his contract not running out till June 30th but I don't have any evidence. His contract is due to expire, he hasn't signed a new one, there's no longer any talk of him going elsewhere so I am not too worried. We'll see in a couple of weeks.

The Aurelio transfer is practically following the Zenden transfer step for step. We didn't get anything solid from him unitl about a week/ 10 days before he actually signed, just intermittant speculation he was signing along with posts from those in the know saying it was a done deal.

I don't think Ballack has officially signed for Chelsea yet btw, he's only signed a pre contact with his official contact starting on 1st July.

I thought Abidal was poor last night, got nowhere near the cross for the goal.

Also he's an absolute w***** for getting booked twice and costing me 10 Fantasy Football points.

DJIMI Traore's agent has pleaded for Liverpool not to price the Frenchman out of a move away from Anfield.

Benitez has told the defender he can look for another club given the impending arrival of Brazilian left-back Fabio Aurelio.

salif diao mark II. djimi "but rafa, who the good f*** is going to pay fifty grand for me?" traore.

we should see if there are any pawn shops that'll take him off our hands.

Elisha has informed us Aurelio is done, which is far better information than any press reports as far as I'm concerned. The lad has signed, I'm extremely confident that is the case, which renders this debate a bit pointless I'd think.

Regardless though, blowing a large chunk of our transfer budget on another very expensive footballer from France, in a postion in which we're not desperate to strengthen, would make Rafa a strong candidate for the remake of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'...
