  1. They made an enquiry last week and were told by Roma it would take an offer of over €40M.
  2. He'd probably sell it to a couple of Americans.
  3. I prefer Makepeace myself.
  4. We missed out on Desailly because Roy Evans was too honest. Desailly wanted to play at centre half, Roy wanted him to play as a sweeper in front of the back four and was insisting upon it. Should have kept his mouth shut until after the player had signed. Similarly we missed out on Silvestre. We wanted him to play left back but he wanted to play at centre half. Demento agreed with him so he signed for Man Utd and got played at left back for most of his career there.
  5. Everton were the first English club to remove alcohol sponsorship from the complete range of kids gear when they did it last summer.
  6. The club should have followed Everton's lead and had the alcohol sponsor removed from the kids shirts, instead they added it to the infant kits.
  7. First XI: Jerzy Dudek Markus Babbel - Sami Hyypia -- Daniel Agger - Stig Inge Bjornebye Veggard Heggem -- Dietmar Hamann - Jan Molby -- Bolo Zenden Jari Litmanen -- Dirk Kuyt Second XI: Sander Westerveld Jan Kromkamp - Bjorn Tore Kvarme - Glenn Hysen - John Arne Riise Ryan Babel - Oyvind Leonhardsen - Frode Kippe - Christian Ziege Karlheinz Riedle -- Erik Meijer It was a struggle to think of a qualifying central midfielder which is why Kippe got the nod - he did play there once I think.

  9. The Kuwaiti's agreeing to buy the majority share of the club seems the most likely.

  11. What about the return of the magnificent Pony Tail?
  12. Man Utd went to sleep in the second half of that game, much like they did against Everton at the weekend and were fortunate to get a draw in the end.
  13. Grant just maintained Mourinho's system. Scolari has left the players off the leash so they are a more attack minded team but the players also don't chase down opponents when they don't have the ball.
  14. Essien certainly would be an improvement on Mikel, but I wouldn't fear a midfield four of Deco, Lampard, Ballack and Cole - they could hurt us in the final third of the pitch but they wouldn't have the workrate required when they didn't have the ball. Drogba can be phenomenal when things are going his way but we also know from experience that he may as well not be on the pitch when things aren't going his way - Agger and Carragher have shown themselves capable of nullifying him in the past. The mentality of Chelsea has changed since Scolari took over, they have lost the combative edge that Mourinho gave them and Grant maintained.
  15. Scolari has only been there for this season.
  16. It was great to beat them and end their 86 match run but it was only a matter of time before Scolari's Chelsea side were beaten at home by a decent side. Any team that doesn't give them the opportunity to settle on the ball can get a result against them. CFR Cluj Napoca almost did them in the Champions League earlier this month, In September Man Utd got about them at the start of their game and went 1-0 up, the Man Utd players then stayed in the dressing room for the second half but still came away with a 1-1 draw. And way back in August, Darren Bent scored both goals (the first took a wicked deflection off of Belletti) as in form Tottenham drew 1-1 with top of the table Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They may play shexy football which gets the pundits all excited with prospect of 5-0 score lines against teams incapable of defending, but like Arsenal and Barcelona have learned - you have to be willing to work to win games against Liverpool - under Scolari there is no evidence of that. Long may the way of the 'new' Chelsea continue. One thing that hasn't changed at Chelsea is that their Plan B is still to just lump the ball into the 18 yard box. And Rafa Benitez had the perfect counter to that on the bench in the form of Sami Hyypia.
  17. f*** off sean you always get it wrong.
  18. Realistically so long as the prospect of a new stadium at Stanley Park is open to them I can't see them walking away from the club.
