Adios Ryan Babel!

Great to be able to talk about potential tactics again, makes a change from the other shyte. If the defence is not mobile enough then an enforcer is required. In the recent past we have been spoilt with the likes of Mascherano, Sissoko and Hamann. They were linch pins in the team because the central defense lacked mobility. If the team is to evolve then the central defense has to change, for me none of the current central defenders are must keeps. Kyriakos - great aggression, great attacking the ball but is too slow. Skrtel - he looked decent but now he's a nervous wreck. Agger - I remember watching him boss Drogba in the Champions League Semi-Final which seems to have been an eternity ago and thought if he was capable of that type of display then the defense was sorted for years to come but since then he has faded due to recurring injuries. Carragher - he is past it. He has given great service but he is not first 11 team material any longer. His contribution at the moment is shouting at his team mates. Potential replacements: Phil Jones (Blackburn) - He's only 18/19 but he has been impressive and if he continues to develop he'll be the John Terry of his generation. Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City) - He's a 23 year old giant of a defender. Jan Vertonghen (Ajax) - He's a 23 year old ball playing defender, also knows how to find the net. If you haven't seen him play then check him out on YouTube - I'm sure he'll have more than a couple of highlight compilations. Those three could replace our current defence, allow the team to play further up the pitch and eliminate the need for the enforcer type sitting in central midfield.

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid29318049001?bctid=661710058001 Interesting - "A blend of personalities ... Comolli will work well with Roy" Are they trying to make him feel secure or do te genuinely believe he's not a liability? it's hard to tell.

The reason Benitez was got rid of was covered in Purslow's 21 question "interview" - in the management team, stability was the number one priority. If you read between the lines there was only one member of the management team that was rocking the boat and he was replaced by the old dreary guy.
-
I have an idea - the fans should be involved in the process. The club could place red and white cards under the seats on the Kop and after the game while Roy is grinning like a cheshire cat after losing the game the cards would be raised to display the message "YOU'RE FIRED".

As it should be, I hope the first he knows of his departure is when he hears it from the media or Martin Jol at Spurs style (Berbatov said "I'm sorry boss" as the players stepped on to the pitch for Jol's last game, immediately after the game Jol was sacked - the players had known it was going to happen and said nothing).

The cups would command respect?

Is he mental?

That's complete BS. He took a team that was failing under Keegan to second in the league and the club to two FA Cup Finals. He managed the team that beat Barcelona in the Champions League which was memorable because it was the first time an English team had got a result against such quality opposition in the competition. His transfer policy was questioned because he got rid of David Ginola and Les Ferdinand and the perceived replacements, John Barnes and Ian Rush were "failures". The reality was that Barnes and Rush were a couple of experienced old heads that could have helped get them from second to first in the league but it didn't work out. Jon Dahl Tomasson was signed as a link up player to play off of Shearer but ended up being used as an out and out striker when Shearer got injured at the start of the season. Without Shearer's goals they became a mid table side much like Liverpool did without Torres last season. Something else that is conveniently forgotten is that under Keegan there was no reserve or competitive under age football at Newcastle - Dalglish had to undo that damage.

I think that NESV are going to put this season down to a learning experience, the first priority is to get the top level management in place. They'll give Hodgson the chance to get the team out of the mire it's in - he'll only be sacked if our Premier League status is at risk. At the same time they won't give him the money to waste in the January transfer window - if players are signed they won't be his choices. In the summer they'll turf him out and appoint their own manager.

I'm not having that - Liverpool's Greek Warrior.

He admitted that in one of his interviews with the Spanish press early in the 2005/6 season. The journalist asked him why he was so comfortable with the Spanish and not the English press. Rafa's response was that when you speak with the English journalists they twist what you say to make sensational stories, the Spanish press are only interested in the football and tactics so it is easier.

Before they started to expand the stadium, Man Utd were getting crowds of 38-40k. West Ham expanded Upton Park 8/9 years ago and the attendances increased immediately from about 25k to 35k. Ar$enal's attendances also shot up immediately when they moved to the Emirates. The lesson learned should be to build in as much capacity as possible - not doing so is lunacy.
-
Have you forgotten the attempts to sign Turner from Hull and Shawcross from Stoke? We ended up signing Kyriakos because there was no money available.
-
I think Kuyt and Agger should also be on the list.

You'd be surprised. There are plenty of mental cases who only know what they read in the rags and fill the void where their brain should be with complete fantasy. I had a taxi driver tell me today that but for Benitez, Keane would still be at the club and his goals would have won the league two seasons ago and got us into the top four last season my response was that he hasn't exactly been banging them in since he left Liverpool and he came back with "Well Benitez drained Robbie of his confidence!" - There is simply no reasoning with the mental cases.
-
I think it was done to accommodate Joe Cole - he made it clear that he wanted to play in the centre.

There was an open top bus tour of the city to herald his arrival at Liverpool - the whole city turned out to greet him. Did I forget to mention that I can't wait for the pomp and circumstance of the sacking of the feckless gobshiite.
-
Ha, ha - priceless coming from the schmuck who recently touted a potential move for Torres to Man Utd.
-
He wants rid of Torres because the player doesn't respect him.

£144M / 1348 days = £106k per day. That's how much owning the club has cost those c****!
