My rite of passage into Liverpool Football Club came as a result of my old man who'd been watching Liverpool since 1958 drumming into his son that they were the greatest team in the world. Players like Kenny, Rushie, Souey and Hansen were my heroes and the first game I went to in March 1982 aged 8 is ingrained into my memory. We beat the Brummies 3-1 with two from Rushie and one from Terry Mac and I was hooked. I constantly pestered my old man to take me to more and more games until I was old enough to start going with my mates. That couldn't come quick enough - all I wanted to do was to stand on the Kop which me being small meant my old man wasn't keen on taking me. I used to sit in the Kemlyn or Main Stand or the Anny just looking at it and wishing I was part of it all.
