  1. I would agree as a I said with Mascherano, though Suarez is not far behind. However I disagree with Torres, when he signed there was still the discussion ongoing whether it was worthwhile; he was a 1 in 3 player who had played in 1 World Cup in a Spanish team that disappointed (promised much but yet had to deliver). Anecdotally there was the big argument whether Bent would have been a better buy. No such qualms with Suarez.
  2. I would have issue with that. Being the no 2 player in a side that reached the semi-finals of the world cup, (and possibly if he had played in the semi, would've reached the final.) Nevermind the best player and captain of Ajax. He's reputation is above Torres' was when he arrived. Above Alonso and nearly on a par with Mascherano when they arrived. Obviously I'm talking about his reputation only.
  3. We'd have to sell him for £40m to break-even. assuming the mirror is right. and that the total cost is £30m. i.e. no other add-ons such as trophys/ league games/national caps reached etc. Certainly not the £35m we've been hearing around.
  4. 1. Kyrgiakos 2. Lucas 3. Reina
  5. I'm not sure. I think he will add a bit of a shine and be quite solid and not at all superficial like some others.
  6. I assume you mean Insua.
  7. 1. Lucas 2. Kyrgiakos 3. Kuyt
  8. It's on the BBC ticker tape BBC
  9. Hodgson is a dead man walking. Or Purslow is playing at being manager..... i.e. Hodgson's a sock puppet delete as appropriate.
  10. 'This.'
  11. He has been judged. And he has been found wanting.
  12. I hope that's sarcasm. Otherwise you're in for big shock. If it is, sit down first. Make sure you won't be involved in any heavy machinery work for a while, also access to an open bar is probably recommended.
  13. I think after playing under Hodgson, they may appreciate Rafa more. At the moment I know we all do!
  14. Appreciated it. Interesting analysis, though I think the argument needed some 'rounding' a bit more, but overall very good. Note - 'rounding' is in this case: more on Hodgson's tactical set-up and more on justifying the argument of the title.
  15. Rafa, scouted and had a pre-contract agreement to start 8 July 2010. Roy came in 1st of July. didn't veto the signing.
  16. I think you mean un camarero español gordo. grasa may be true, especially now that he's in Italy.
  17. From what we undertand, this Red Sox group know this (see the relationship with their stadium Fenway Park) It's just Sky Sports s***-stirring.
  18. No not me. I want a clean slate for us the fans. So a new M.D. and CEO. Let the new management bring in their own.
  19. I don't think we will be debt free. Recall that the purchase clears the acquisition debt? that was 180-190m. And no way will RBS take a hit on this when in 10days they can own the club and sell it.
  20. To: Martin Broughton & Christian Purslow, Ian Ayre Re: Rewards for the Sale Martin, as agreed in April, your renumeration is in the post. Once again, thanks for your hard work in finding a new buyer, though timescales were short, you've achieved what you promised. We'll ignore the overstepping of your purview when you interfered with the operational side with the consequences that ensued, though we note that once it was done you've tried to minimise the public engagement. Christian, also thank you for your hard work in assisting Martin in your capacity to find a new buyer. Liverpool FC will be in your debt. However we've undertaken a review of the personnel and we feel that the club does not need someone of your skills. The 'firefighting' capability that you have shown, has been instrumental in allowing us to sell the club. However, now that we have transitioned into a stable club financially, we have returned our focus to the football side of things and here we have found your actions have undermined the overall stability, and have shown questionable judgement on the management side. Your communication skills have compounded the errors and we feel that given time you would become a liability rather than the asset you have been. So, please vacate your office and see Glenda at reception on your way out. The rest of your belongings will be shipped to your home. Ian, excellent job, looking forward to seeing what you can do about stadium financing without your hands tied behind your back! Though we think you should try and repair the damage that will have been done with Standard Chartered first. Once again, thank you all for the excellent job you've done. Regards, The Fans.
  21. He said something along the lines of 3 of these 5 and then listed Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano, Benayoun and someone else. Since Benayoun was going anyway, it's really 2 from 4. There is no way that ES will have known what Torres is thinking. He can only discuss really what Gerrard tells him, and then we're playing Chinese whispers. So I think it's Bulls***. Well meaning maybe, but Rafa hadn't lost the dressing room, just the usual disgruntled employees, especially after a bad season. There's always disgruntled players, only less when you're winning, but there is always players who want to play more, more money and fallings out, etc.
  22. I'll go with that.
  23. 'clamavi' exaudi vocem meam
  24. That thread is scary. Jesus, EdinJapan got it bang on. Davvo and Gunga Din made the mistake of 'probably the majority' thinking that we would have a quality replacement. Yikes!
  25. He has a 1 year pay-off. So that's nearly £10 million (£5m rafa, £2..5m Fulham and now £2m Hodgson) spent to sack one of the best coaches in the game, because he had the temerity to bitch about getting f***ed around by the board. a******s
