Hodgson's pre-match comments about his approach. Finally some fire! BBC Video
-
I f***ing love this quote: (Sarcasm) "Liverpool supporters knew at the start of the season that they were playing for sixth - fourth place was never realistic," Lawrenson reflected. BBC
-
I think you should just watch it for yourself. Translation by the danish poster.
-
Don't forget: 7. The squad is over-staffed.
-
So then we can expect something like this: Reina Johnson Carra Skrtel Konchesky Maxi Gerrard Poulsen Cole Meireles Torres
-
BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "This was Northampton's night, it was in the stars for this to happen. But for Liverpool to lose, it was absolutely unthinkable before. They were surely always going to make sure they would win this game, weren't they? I think we are seeing the legacy of the Rafael Benitez reign right here, and it's going to take Liverpool a long time to challenge for the top four again." That is on the BBC website. Did anyone here him say it?

Made it worse. And true.

I think what El Nino is asking is about this: And I think it is very relevant. Do the Board have the power to accept a lower bid, or any bid that the owners refuse? And what you're confusing it, is with this:
-
Gulacsi is on loan to Tranmere. It'll be Jones starting.
-
1. Meireles 2. Gerrard 3. Torres
-
Watching Poulsen, I miss Lucas.
-
Rafa's Liverpool team did beat the defending CL Winners Barcelona (with Messi, Ronaldinho, Eto'o etc). That tie was fantastic - I still don't know how we didn't win at home - hell even Momo hit the bar!
-
To caveat my earlier comment. I'm praying to every God i know for a win this Sunday. IF (and it's a big f***ing IF) we win then it can be the springboard for Roy's Renaissance! (Copyright that.)

if only we had the technology......
-
Not to jump on this bandwagon, but if we keep playing like we are I can see us having only another 5 points from the next 4 games. Which coming mid October will not be pretty, certainly bottom half of the table. So relegation battle by november isn't outrageously impossible. Unfortunately not by a long shot.

If you put it like what we believe as a concensus: The 2008/09 Player of the seasons (top 11) 1. Alonso...............73 points 2. Gerrard................71 points 3. Kuyt....................39 points 4. Torres.................38 points 5. Reina...................37 points 6. Benayoun............34 points 7. Mascherano.........30 points 8. Carragher............27 points 9. Hyypia.................27 points 10.Riera..................17 points 11.Skrtel.................16 points Of which we have lost (in bold) 5 players that we as a concensus thought the best 11. We've replaced Alonso and Mascherano with Meireles and Poulsen, Benayoun with Cole. Riera with Jovanovic is still debatable whether it's an improvement. We've not replaced Hyypia really, though Kyrgiakos for £1.5m wasn't bad for a 4th choice. And Agger is better than Skrtel. We are weaker. Specifically Alonso and Hyypia-sized weaker. Nevermind that we've had a 2nd striker hole in our squad since.

Really? I think not. Recall the last 5 Finals and what do you get, mostly innocuous decisions, the football dominated the proceedings - not the referee. Not since the 1990 final where the Voller dived and Brehme scored that penalty has there been a referee f***-up. even the 2006 final with the zidane incident - you can't argue that the referee f***ed that up, can you? To put it into context though - I'm not arguing that Webb is the son of the devil or anything, like some seem to be, however that he royally screwed the 2010 final and it was the worst refereeing in a world cup final for 20 years - I think the argument is sound. As for Sunday - I will be drinking quite a bit, because that's the only way I ever watch the OT aways, deadens the nerves it does.
-
Obviously. Stats are made to support an argument or break one down. Never to be the argument on its own. In this case it's just an addendum to the other posts about how Rafa's Valencia had a s*** follow-on from his title winning side. On the same level that he had with us last year.
-
Indeed. Just to highlight this: Liverpool 09/10 Pl 38 Won 18 Drawn 9 Lost 11 For 61 Ag 35 Pts 63 Valencia 02/03 Pl 38 Won 17 Drawn 9 Lost 12 For 56 Ag 35 Pts 60

I think that assertion is incorrect. 2001-02 He wins the Title with Valencia in 02-03 Valencia drop out of the Champions League places, winning less than half of their league games and losing 12 times in the league alone. (they had a worse record than we did last year) They scrape past (on penalties) a 2B (3rd division) side in the Copa del Rey 1st round, before going out (on penalties) in the next round (2nd) to another 2B (3rd div.) side. Their only bright spot came in europe where they tonked us, before going out in the Quarter-Finals on they away goals rule. That's not dissimilar to our record last year, hmmm?
-
Apart from missing the single most significant foul of the game. Send of De Jong at that point and the game is more open and probably the dutch are cowed a bit and don't foul so much. So ..... IMO that was the worst refereeing performance in a World Cup final in twenty years.
-
Corrected that for you.

We signed him on loan for 18 months from Jan 07. So by July 08 he had finished that. We signed him permanently then. See the link, the offal even states when his contract ends. June 2011. Which makes that buy clause in his loan to Galatasaray very sad. The only reason is to expediate things, i.e. not go to tribunal. But that reasoning is pretty f***ing thin.

8+3=11 = next year surely? Offal
