I think the argument is that it's not the fact whether we have £20m plus wages or £20m including wages. We used to spend £20m on transfer fees and then an (usually) undisclosed amount for wages. What many take offence to is that Purslow is saying that we're spending our 'normal' amount of 20m, so 'nothing to see here, move along' but now it is inclusive of wages. Fans don't like being taken for a ride, and that is what Purslow attempted to do. As Sutty has said with fewer words. 'Sophistry' I like that. Will try and use it next time.

I agree with keeping Insua - as a back-up obviously - he's home-grown, probably not on a 'big'salary, already bedded in and has some talent and is young enough to improve. Selling him and buying a replacement would cost more in fees and probably a bigger wage, likely not a homegrown player and would need sometime to adjust. And we would still be needing another left-back for cover anyway. So why not just buy a better left-back to be first choice and move-on to other parts of the squad?

Looks like it's Roy. Roy Hodgson has accepted the opportunity to become the next manager of Liverpool. Hodgson has agreed terms with Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow but no official announcement will be made until Fulham and Liverpool finalise a compensation payment.
