  1. Please, one of the Portuguese sides. Benfica for revenge or Porto for something new
  2. I thought these coaches were supposed to be smart. Cech? At least Benitez has an excuse - he can't vote for his own players.
  3. They've said that they will extend the protection to both the countries i.e. they won't be drawn in a group with either greek or spanish clubs.
  4. Eto'o has got injured again. Out for two months, apparently. UEFA News Just as well we got Torres then.....
  5. I agree with those that want someone new. At least for the group stages. After that, well when the going gets tough..... give me every easy draw we can get.
  6. It certainly is popular enough! I don't know how other people are doing, but I'm finding that I'm getting less and less right each game. As Rafa is experimenting with his squad, it's getting harder to guess his next lineup.
  7. 1) Benayoun 2) Mascherano 3) Kuyt
  8. "You wanna know how to get Keane? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Liverpool* way! And that's how you get Keane. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I'm offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?"
  9. The journo's probably got confused again 8m Euros (~£5m)

  11. 1. Torres 2. Carra 3. Gerrard
  12. Or your namesake: chain-smoking, midfield supremo Didi Hamann?
  13. I just checked the offal. Yeah, it does state both as strikers, though it says Nemeth can also operate as a midfielder. Offal They played in the Wrexham game, what positions did they play then?
  14. Nemeth is more of a midfielder, Yossi more of a right midfielder. Other than that one could argue that Gerrard could be moved to the right, as he tends to play there more often nowadays, but we all know he's really a centre-mid.
  15. Yep, I just checked the offal squad page and they have Yossi as 11. However they have also moved Arbeloa from 2 to 17. Anyone know why? Is there a new defender coming in?
  16. Yeah, that's a bit strange - Voronin had the number 10 originally, and is still listed as 10 in the squad profiles. Funny though in the 6th picture down, you can see part of his number and that looks like a 0, i.e. part of the 10. Maybe Babel requested the number 10.
  17. 'Quaresma is too expensive' (Angel Marin) Liverpool's entry into the race to sign Ricardo Quaresma has left Atlético de Madrid without margin to dream about signing the player. Ángel Gil Marin administrator and major 'mover' of the Madrid club told A BOLA that 'everytime it is harder to reach an agreement'. Ricardo Quaresma Angel Gil Marin admitted that the colchoneros (A. Madrid club) don't have the money to sign Quaresma or be in a bidding war with English clubs. 'We have made various offers, but we have limitations. At this height, all I can definately say is that we are studying various alternatives, while leaving the door ajar for negotiations with FC Porto, if the final bidding price remains within our reach." he said. without confirming that they offered 22 million euros made last weekend according to spanish press. The indications are the FC Porto will not accept a price below 25 million euros at the moment, Quaresma has not said anything and Gil Marin confessed that they are playing the waiting game, confirmed to A Bola: 'Quaresma is really extraordinary, but at this time we do not have the means for signing him. We won't give up, but we have to look at alternatives.' Basically it looks like there is another bidder or that Atletico Madrid will have to wait to see if Porto drop their asking price. Quaresma's keeping mum, - maybe that means we are in for him, as we generally don't like our targets to talk to the press at all.
  18. No, they are through to the quarter-finals. Top 2 from each group (there are only three groups) and the best 2 third placed teams unluckily for them they are playing Brazil again. as CarraLegend said.
  19. Maximo Lucas played (2000) (plays?) for Liverpool of Uruguay. They play in the colours blue and black (negri-azul) - that must be an old news item from years ago! Diario El Pais is one of the national papers from Uruguay
  20. When the story broke in Brazil, their coach described it as a bruised ankle, not really serious but enough to rule him out for 15-20 days.
  21. desconvocado means de-selected. So because of his injury he was withdrawn from the squad. I suppose that means he will be moving over here sooner then. Brazilian Link The injury isn't serious according to the Brazilian national News - 15-20 days out - enough for him to be ruled out of the finals though. The injury is described by the coach as a bruised Lateral malleolus - the bone sticking out on the outside of your ankle. Painful!
  22. I think this was translated and reposted on Tribal from a Spanish paper, but if true we could be solving two problems with one transfer: Cisse + money for Torres Tribal Link
  23. Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano has quashed talk that Samuel Eto'o could join Arsenal following Thierry Henry's switch to the Nou Camp. Soriano has insisted striker Eto'o, 26, will be staying, despite being linked with a move to several Premiership clubs as well as AC Milan. "He wants to stay and we want him to stay," Soriano told BBC Five Live. "If things go right we will have him playing with Thierry Henry next season. Definitely, he is going to be staying." Liverpool were believed to have been interested in Eto'o, whose Barcelona future came into question after run-ins with manager Frank Rijkaard and team-mate Ronaldinho last season. AC Milan also stated the Cameroon international was their number one transfer target. Speculation also suggested Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could follow Henry to Barcelona and replace Rijkaard after the club ended the past campaign without a trophy. But Soriano said: "You never know in the future but not now. We have a coach, Frank Rijkaard, and we are very happy with him. We hope he will stay with us for many more years." Link
  24. It's just a translation into Spanish of the Times article, and quoting the Times article.
  25. Actually the Brazilian Radio (BBC equivalent) reported a $10million (~£5m) bid for Renato Augusto. But this was rebuffed. Maybe even before the Lucas deal. So the source isn't Tribal football.
