  1. woeful performance defensively but unfair to single out Carra. Arsenal were shocking this evening - 5 decent moves all game and 4 goals - despite some decent strikes from Arshavin he was gifted at least 3 of them by our defending. Yes I think we've probably blown the league but a) not fair to blame Carra and b) we blew it long before this evening.

  5. In fact RVP and Adebayor were pretty poor in the FA cup semi - so perhaps that's not a major loss for them!
  6. Can't help thinking anything "too controversial" will have been removed from the records - they'd have known even at that time it was potentially dynamite. Fingers crossed it helps though.
  7. It's a well constructed post that Twitter one and the earlier Independant article makes a valuable point - that it is not just a question of remembering Hillsborough and learning lessons but it's about keeping pressure on the authorities for JUSTICE. I really hope something comes of this possible release of more documents. It's hard to imagine they won't have been tampered with or that it won't all end in disappointment again but that's me just being my usual cynical self, or maybe just because there have been so many false dawns in the pursuit of the real truth of Hillsborough. I've lost nearly all of my faith in the police being held accountable but it does seem that the media have got their teeth into the call for Justice for the 96. With the handling of the G20 protests story running too it seems the police are really in the media's crosshairs at the moment. Let's hope it remains that way until Justice for the 96 is finally achieved.
  8. I think The Times had some complaints because they seemed to have toned down the pictures on the website now. I remember the Mirror article at the time it was about 12 pages long. I was absolutely shocked that they got away with being so graphic - there were really close up pictures of people in the pens who had quite clearly passed away. The article in the rag deflected quite a bit of the criticism I guess. Its a very fine line between being shocking enough to convey the severity of the situation and just being unnecessarily graphic and voyeuristic. Some of the printed media on the continent are generally far more graphic in their reporting of disasters though. The French publication Paris Match for example was notorious for printing shocking imagery and often crossed the line of decency.
  9. Has the interview been on 5Live yet? Can't believe it's a good idea to have a phone in show about this, with him, today - just seems a huge mistake by the BBC to me.
  10. It was really good. I guess Trevor Hicks maybe could have been a little more concise but the guy did amazingly well to generally hold himself together given the circumstances and he did get all the main points accross. The important thing, other than remembering the 96 and offering comfort to their families, was to keep the pressure on the authorities and educate people on the real truth. I think todays memorial should achieve that. Hopefully the 'sensible' press (if that's not a misnomer) will report it in the right way.
  11. Have to say it seemed unlikely to me he would have done. I guess the pressure will be on SYP to make ANOTHER statement about it though which I suppose is a good thing as they'd like to duck the issue as much as possible.
  12. I think the response of the crowd was dignified defiance and certainly not bad behaviour - I feared that some elements of the press would take that stance though. HAS the chief chappy at South Yorks accepted full responsibility by the way - I know from the David Conn video interview in the Guardian he was hinting at it but I didn't think it was as unequivocal as it was made out to be today though.
  13. Was a great service. Was odd that Burnham made a speech but was quite breathtaking to see the chanting of "Justice for the 96" drown him out. I hope the press report that in the right way - it was defiance and resolve not petulance.
  14. Anyone know where there's coverage of the memorial service?
  15. I've only just watched it on Youtube and I agree it was a very well put together programme and was, rightly of course, quite damning at times.
  16. I think we'll lose.
  17. Yes I thought the piece on Radio 5 this evening was well put together too.
  18. True but then a xenophobic t**t and a mumbling alcoholic ignoramus are probably vastly more preferable than that t**t Lovejoy. Saint and Greavsie were both incredible players and so at least they had some reason to be arrogant, Lovejoy is a talentless idiot and probably only really started following Chelsea when he (wrongly) thought it was "cool".
  19. Tactical genius is Mr Pleat.
  20. Man U got away with that really - should have been out of the tie!! Wish we had to play them again in the league - we'd batter them in htis form
  21. never a free
  22. my god their defence is ropey!
  23. Not sure I could take another late winner from Man U so soon but..... oh damn
  24. Porto really should be 3 or 4 up here. The tactic all premiership managers should employ agaisnt Man U is definitely to really go at them.
  25. Isn't it time this site was updated? http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/
