    Not picking on you (well not just you, and besides, you can take it), but the inference, hints, feeling in the air that we are somehow going to win the CL this season is preposterous.

    Yes, it's a slightly different conversation, mine is a warning for the future, against what ends up being a bit of a NIMBYism type thinking. On your point though, I think I've tried to get this started on here before, things that are cool but definitely wool. Could be an interesting thought experiment for some of the more narrow minded scouse experts on here.

    Which bit? Gakpo has already proved prolific in a lower league, Diaz had numerous seasons with us lacking output.

    I'm just saying if we'd done the opposite we might be looking at Gakpo scoring 20 in the Bundesliga and the sh*te version of Diaz toiling away for us.

    Agree, I actually think you'd have seen pretty similar results if Gakpo had gone to Bayern and Diaz had stayed here to be honest. Those 2 competing with each other was vital for last season, neither of them are great on their own.

    I don’t think he can, but worse I’m not sure he really wants to. The way he’s spoke this season is almost Amorim like at times, almost saying that his idea isn’t working - full stop. Quite a lot of newer managers these days feel like they would rather live to fight another day at another club than take on a really hard project.

    I know you’re being a bit sarcy but I think it’s genuinely a great way to win things. Once you’ve got a decent squad you can almost ignore the summer and get a couple of belters in Jan, end up in CL finals.
