Is America good at anything anymore?
growler replied to SkippyjonJones 's topic in General Football Discussion
What I can't understand though, is how they are so high in the rankings. I mean, Mexico are actually a good team in the same region, but somethings wrong when america are in the top 10 of the world. -
Surely the club should have some sort of insurance? How would the FA of Japan, Togo, Iran and a few others fund the wages of some of their players? What about Ivory coast? Nope, international football is about pride. If anything, the players who earn so much should be able to say 'no pay' for those games. They get bonuses for success in the international tournaments, that is sufficient.

Lampard better without Gerrard
growler replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in General Football Discussion
Its just another slant on Gerrard and Lampard cannot play in the same team, unless we are playing 5 across the middle. Some come down and say Gerrard others say the turd should be in. -
I think we tied this up a while ago in reality. We are just waiting until last possible moment. Why pay wages and other money when we don't have to?
-
I'd lose both Kewell and Garcia if the money was right. In reality though, Garcia would bring in more money.

Not sure, its either moanrinho or feckwit, not sure exactly.

Owen I think is bitter. At the moment, is stuck at newcastle, missed on the greatest football club trophy, and an FA cup, and looks like being on the bench for england games soon with Crouch becoming like Sheringham for england ie. a player that supports the main striker. crouch/rooney would work well I think and Owen sees that. Instead of being Englands main striker in a world cup that he has been building towards his whole career, he is a newcastle striker behind rooney and Crouch. I like owen, and loved him when we was with us, but all this me me me, is getting a bit old. Pull your finger out, and get on with it.

Italian FA in administration
growler replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in General Football Discussion
Personally I Reckon that this is the best thing that can happen to Juve. THey need a refresh, and going down will enable them to get rid of the aging players and rebuild. The biggest problem will be their CL seeding, which with 2 years out, will have a longer term impact. Just look at chelsea for proof of that. -
the thing is, teams that spend big, only need 1 or 2 additions. we need to get a quality squad, then we can look at the 15/20mil a player signings. at the moment we needed cover on left wing, left back, right wing, up front and centre back. Aurelio, Gonzales, Agger, Paletta already in the bag (I count Agger as new signing still). With right wing and up front still to go, we are not far away. I reckon next season will be a summer where we can break the bank if we want to. and for those looking at Kenny, who else did we buy that summer? Finally, looking back over the last few years, taking out chelsea, we have been the biggest net spenders. about 51mil I think.

so by that reckoning, what do you make of Paraguay and T&T? croatia and S&M are about the same level, yet brazil just beat them. Whats your point? Argentina are playing the best football, and look the most cohesive unit. Peaking too early is crap. This team looks awesome, and would be worthy winners.
-
I can see why Benitez is looking there. They look awesome, from back middle and front. Its not just that they won 6-0. Its the manner that they won. They passed the ball really well and deserved it.

Have a look around. Chelski, despite swimming in it, sell Huth, HUTH for 5mil, and gujohnson for 8mil. scum look to sell the horse for 12mil + a*** sold overmars and petit for 30 mil none of those players were wanted at the club, but still went for big money. Yet we continually find it difficult to sell players. I understand the dross like Diao etc, but come on. 5mil for Huth!!

bazz mate, can you come to my work place? I need to piss off a few people too. Perhaps you can diss someone who does something above and beyond their requirements? That will annoy them, so they don't do it again. I mean, he's not getting paid for it, and he has no obligation so why should anyone benefit from his services free of charge? I get someone like you, we can rid of him in no time. Or at least stop him helping others for no reason. Also, perhaps we can ban holidays....

The best young player I have seen in a very very long time
growler replied to Figaro 's topic in General Football Discussion
Fig, What are they doing in their youth system to stop the a*** and scum nicking their youngsters? scary that Cesc, Pique to name two were stolen and yet still they produce stars. Its funny that people say we shouldn't expect a team full of scousers, but how do they do it at Barca? -
I think its a good move for him. With Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko and Zenden, we have enough there, and he wouldn't get much playing time. One of the most decorated players for liverpool in recent history (WC runners up medal too). Didi we salute you, and will miss you.

Vultures beginning to circle Juve
growler replied to jimmylibel 's topic in General Football Discussion
well, what happened? the date has passed and still no news? Perhaps waiting until after the world cup... -
Also, rooney is the best english striker. Pains me to say it, but its true.

I think its obvious that nothing will happen to arsenal. The football authorities are a joke. Watch the Juve story just disappear too. juve will 'promise' to be good, and all will be forgiven. Same with Arsenal. they will be warned with future conduct. Makes you wonder why Chelski paid 12mil to united for Obi when even they didn't they would've got a 50 Euro fine at most anyway.

Vultures beginning to circle Juve
growler replied to jimmylibel 's topic in General Football Discussion
the repurcussions are significant even if it is for one season. for the next two seasons, they will not gain any UEFA co-efficient points, TV revenue will be lower, and no euro money. Any player at their peak will not want to give up 2 years of CL footy. Assuming they keep a core of players and come back up, they will still need to get players in, and those that took their place in the CL and UEFA cups will have strengthened too. this could be the best thing to happen in Italian football. Now if only we could find something similar for Chelsea and Manu... -
i will get told this should be in the General forum

Owen lost 'legend' status when he left like he did. Fowler may not have won us a competition by himself, but a legend is more than a player who wins things. he is a player with character, integrity and morals. Cisse scored 2 goals to win us the super cup. Legend? Smicer scored 2 in the CL final (including penalty). Legend? LEgend, would mean they are the club. Le Tissier won what at Soton? are you saying he is not a legend? no, Owen is no more a legend than DAvid Thompson, Hutchinson etc. I am proud that he played for us, and love what did when he DID play for us, but if we had paid 16mil last summer, we would have saying what a waste right now. yet we got fowler for free in jan and that is a much better bargain. who has played more this season? -
its not just pulling power though. Its the risk. Thats why ronaldinho was at PSG for example. arnesen has signed who exactly since he has been at chelsea? Also, any kid would be foolish to go to chelsea, regardless of who the man signing them is. Players would have other agents talking about SWP, Parker, cole, Bridge etc.

How about an 'award' for Diver of the week? Seriously though, until the FA decide to do half time and post game bookings and cards, there will always be divers. That way, if a player dives and it is missed, he will still be punished. a 5 match ban and 4 weeks salary fine to go to charity would do the trick.
