I said this in another thread, but you have to feel the fans (the real ones)who still have to pay 50 quid for a friendly. you would think the club could afford to give them a 'gift' of one season free season ticket or something.
-
If we do this, I would do it for 10mil plus bridge.
-
I think having kewell helps! Also, can't believe its september until we get our first 3pm kick off!

Walcott left out of Arsenal squad
growler replied to CarraLegend's topic in General Football Discussion
don't see what the fuss is, youth players don't go chelsea, english players don't go arsenal, money grabbers go to newcastle. whats the big deal? People talk like this is news! -
I feel sorry for their fans. They have had their club ripped from them, changed around and sent down s*** lane and then charged double any other club even though their owner can pay 30mil for sheva. you think they would reward the fans who have been with the club for a while with a 'free' season, or a season of reduced prices as a thank you. I mean, really what revenue does season tickets bring in for a club like chelsea?

Walcott left out of Arsenal squad
growler replied to CarraLegend's topic in General Football Discussion
funny that merida got a run out in the friendly though. of course walcott is english however, so I am sure he will join everton or villa in 2 years time for 1.5mil after Cygan, todorov and all the others play in front of him. -
don't be silly. our fa are as strict as UEFA and FIFA. expect a please don't do that again and a 1 pound fine. UEFA will request that they don't do this again and fine them 5c FIFa will send them a letter with a thank you for their contribution to the game. If the mancs and spurs gave in, you think the FA will listen to smaller clubs?

houllier did this a lot though. remember biscan, who looked fantastic when he played against crystal palace, and then was dropped for many games and brought back against someone at CB or RM. I wonder what would have happened if they were to have been bought now by Rafa? Would they still fester in the reserves? Le Tallec, when he played showed good touches and skill. I think we'll be hearing from him in the future.

Carrick to the Munsters
growler replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in General Football Discussion
its funny how everyone writes off man u. Last season, they played giggs, smith, o'shea, fletcher, richardson, rooney, neville and rio in centre midfield at some stage, CM being the most important positions in the team. Yet, they still finished ahead of us. vander saar, vidic, Neville, Rio, ronaldo, sminth, Carrick, scholes, giggs, park, rooney, saha, rossi, evra, silvestre are all great players. Lets not forget we were in for Rio, ronaldo, smith, carrick, evra and vidic at various stages of their careers. I think the fight for the top just got interesting and not only have we got arsenal, russians, wancs we also have the spurs to contend with. Newcastle casn't be as bad as they were previously. O'niell did excellent with Leicester in the top flight. Villa have a better squad, so they will cause upsets, as will West ham. now I know the top is likely to be the same (different order hopefully) but this season those none top 4 teams will have a greater say this season than they have for a while. -
the real deal is looking at injuries to 4 players in the first 11, and who comes in. I can't be bothered to list it, other than obvious, but: reina injured, carson. Lemon injured, ??? Hyppia injured, Agger. toure injured,??? Gerrard injured, Sissoko. Henry injured, Walcott. Alonso injured, Zenden, Cesc injured, ??? The reason I have gerrard and Henry on the same there is because they are the most important players. Also, Eboue over Finnan? Seriously? Reina, Carra, Gerrard, Alonso, Finnan. most would get into the top teams. Sissoko,Riise, gonzales, Kewell, Garcia would get into most top teams squads, and most other teams first 11. Finally, with Cashley gone, who is a genuine 'gooner'? I think spurs have a lot of expectation from everyone. most people expect them to mount a challenge to the top 4, so will be interesting to see how they cope with that. Arsenal and Manu will be looking over their shoulders if they have a stumble, whereas I think we have the confidence now to know we can absorb a stumble and move forward. Also, wonder what the movement to a new stadium will do to arsenal? not played many games there yet. I would have thought they would have brought in some serious teams for pre-season friendlies at their new stadium.

It doesn't help that the rules around signing players is at best, a grey area. Look at arsenal and Man u. Pique, Lupoli, Rossi, cesc and merida all poached for nothing from europe. What motivation is there for barcelona to coach players if clubs go and do that? rules such all players signed under the age of 17 have a bunch of proviso's built in, based on first team appearances, international appearances and future transfer as well as a first option clause when crossing borders. That will reward everyone involved. we've only just started doing this, but we are in this too. How much did we buy Barragan, roque and antwi for? the problem is, that those in control of the game don't care and those in charge of the club are only interested in themselves.
-
prongsy, so does Henry, LEhmann etc. Whats your point again?

http://www.talksoccer.net/index.php?subact...04&archive= Crazy stuff. IF we have beaten them, they would have just disappeared. Imagine, we probably would have had Duff and SWP on our wings then. Didn't a similar thing happen in reverse with Leeds? We beat them to the CL, so the downward spiral began? Begs the question of 'if onlys'
-
If you read what I wrote: Also, with Cashley and Campbell out, there is NO english players in their first team squad, whereas we not only have Gerrard, Carra, Fowler, Pennant we also have Bellamy and the youth. thats why the english players were listed, and then ALSO Bellamy and the youth...

i'm glad our spaniards arent as disloyal as arsenals
growler replied to a topic in General Football Discussion
they were going for a spanish midfield though. reyes, cesc merida -
Looking forward, the a*** and we have been buying players for the future. Although a bit gutted we missed out on a spanish one (Merida), it looks like a lot of the future stars are being bought early. Who will be the ones who make it? Merida Hobbs Antwi Walcott Roque Song Anderson Bentley Lindfield Traore (arsenal french player before anyone laughs) Others? I'm glad that rafa has bought english youngsters in. I would think arsenal would be worried about the future if wenger was to leave. many players seem to play for the manager, rather than the club. Also, with Cashley and Campbell out, there is NO english players in their first team squad, whereas we not only have Gerrard, Carra, Fowler, Pennant we also have Bellamy and the youth.

I hope they knock out the russians. Imagine the field day boringho will have about the conspiracy and corruption innuendo's!
-
wonder if smurf will have the guts to follow through where the wancs, the a*** and the spurs were too scared to. saying that though, the FA and UEFA and FIFA won't do anything anyway. a 250 fine from the fa, reduced to 2.99 and a packet of crisps, and please don't do this again from UEFA and a 2euro fine, and fifa sending a thank you note to abramovich for services to the game.

Can you really count the first 5, when real madrid were the only team in it?
-
with the 18mil for carrick, I think they will get downing.

Carrick to the Munsters
growler replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in General Football Discussion
what makes me laugh is that real offer 17mil for alonso! dopey feckers. -
I think he'll play before Agger myself. Can see him finishing the season at the back with Carra.

toadboy, not disputing your knowledge, but am disputing your anger and aggression. Generally speaking though, The facts are, the balance sheet is healthy for going concern with opportunity that we have face. You can take into account the long term debt if you like when looking at total debt. But then you also need to take into account guaranteed long term revenue, ie the increased revenue from the premier league from next season. you can also assume (Without banking on it from a commercial decision point of view) that once the carlsberg deal is finished, we will have a highever revenue stream from our next deal. Increased revenue from greater success on the pitch . you could even argue about the value of some of the assets (ie players) holding their value better than in the past. Also, I think its clear that the club are well run and rafa bears that in mind. Otherwise why would be play hardball over a couple of mil? The facts are there for all to see on the balance sheet, and any fan can tell you about the future plans at liverpool and the revenue streams over the next 3-5 years.

mourinho moaning about liverpool again
growler replied to liverbird04's topic in General Football Discussion
Maybe a bit of honesty too. After spending 300mil plus the rest of the debt, wages etc, the expectation is that you will win the league with flair. That you won it after boring everyone, is considered a failure. That you let two creative players Duff and Gudjohnson leave and kept the oaf up front Drogba says it all. I feel for Shevvy, who before he saw dollar signs, was one of my favourite players. I mean, imagine playing in front of shot on sight lampard, pass 3 yards essien, and the heskey'eque Drogba with SWP, Crespo and Robben on the bench. also with Huth gone, who will he play up front when needs a tactical change?
