not only that, arsenal have a replay as well as the league cup. boringho have their drama's as well as cup games, as do the wancs. it makes it all the more annoying that we stumbled early on. even 1 of those games would have made such a difference, or even away at blackburn. what amazes me though, is that we have best home record! 3 goals against! fortress anfield is back, just in time for when we change stadiums....
-
Surely the best way around the issue, is to loan 3-4 players to the same team? maybe a LB and LM for example. If Insua and Leto were to be at a lower division club (Crewe?) then they would still learn to play together in the right environment.
-
maldini, germany do not have 4 CL spots.
-
its not just buying the players. Its the coaching once they get there. Look at le tallec, and pongo, and compare them to ronaldo, henry, toure. would they have 'made it' if they had gone to arsenal or man u?
-
the reality is, losing a CL spot makes our league more competitive. bolton can scream all they want, but look at the table. The top are the top 4, and will be the top 4 for a while. By having 4 into 3, you will have more variation. the UEFA cup will also be more valuable. also, you don't see the Germans and French complaining? they only have 3. We only had 3 too, for the first few seasons. It was the wancs and ours runs in europe that secured england the 4th CL from Germany due to our co-efficient points. 4 changes need to be made: 1. 3 CL teams only per country, (Unless there is a winner) 2. No CL team 'drops' into the UEFA cup. if you out, you out. 3. 4 linesman. how that isn't done already is beyond me. 4. Half time and full time 'red-cards' for divers. thats it. Oh, and do something about ticket prices.
-
FRankly, if the guys who run the premier league had any common sense, they would say that the new TV money is to be used to reduce ticket prices and provide transport and reduced price. the reality is, ataverage 30 per ticket X 40000=1.2mi per game at home, which is 23mil approx for the season from league games. Is that really going to change the world to reduce the tickets to 25? Even if it is for one season.

wasn't that man u? QPR had forgotten to enter in the 80's I think
-
that swedish lad looks good too.
-
maybe they should also show the 18 out of 20 decisions that were correct too.
-
well they have to organise a lunch to discuss it, and they are still at the breakfast meeting called to arrange a time for the lunch meeting
-
OK guys, since Lord Raf has come in, we have bought tonnes of lads, and I can't keep up with them. I would like to know who they are, what position they are, ages and general rating. I think its worth keeping it as a sticky and we can keep updates here. also worth tracking those going out, in relation to youth. Jack Hobbs CB Godwin Antwi CB Michel Roque CB Mr Anderson RW Idazij AM Leto LM Insua LB Martin GK Hansen GK Padelli GK Carson GK Baouwra ST Calliste ST El Zhar AM Out Welsh DM Warnock LB Mannix CM Mellor ST

nothing tops the juventus pink ones.

spurs have also recouped tonnes of money. I think their net spending is very low. Carrick, the bunch to portsmouth, and a few others. Also, chelsea had to spend huge to go from mid table to top. spurs have to do the same to even move to UEFA challengers. give it time, as the squad evolves, they will be challenging. In fact, next season will be big and someone will miss out on CL from the current top 4. spurs and villa will push hard and portsmouth and bolton may be there or thereabouts.

isn't that why the clubs have to pay for the players union? (which fecked up in itself; pay your own fees you tight barstweards) Surely the amount of money going into the union today should be enough to cover the players of yesterdays games. especially as going forward the players are not exactly going to be short of a few bob. Even if they are, they will always be able to go on celebrity big brother of similar.
-
I thought they only had 1 striker, diver johnson. who are their other strikers? Mcfadden is a striker?
-
interesting. I would think that 6mil is higher than the transfer fee for Heinz anyway. He's injury prone and not played in a while. 4-5mil would cover the fee I am sure. also, the feature was taken of FM I think....

the academy is not only about producing world class players. where are the average players? The ones that we can sell for a small profit and the player makes a career at other clubs? David Thompson and stephen wright are good examples of those, but, I would like to see a host of players come through the academy who may not be good enough for us, but good enough to play premier or first division( cannot call it championship, sorry) on a consistant basis. Also, Leeds had a really good run too with youngsters didn't they?

Shevchenko..SHEVCHENKO...SHEVCHENKO HAT-TRICK !
growler replied to Earl Hafler 's topic in General Football Discussion
yeah sheva one of my favourites too, but then he moved for the money and early retirement so took the shine off. How many of the players that I like will get ruined by the russian s**** and boringho? Sheva, Cole, gudjohnson, Crespo, Makelele -
someone should put an 'L' between the A and I... awwwwriittte. is you a football playa?

ifwe make some assumptions, that finnan, reina, carrAgger, Gerrard, Alonso, Pennant, Gonzales, Kuyt and Bellamy/crouch is the first team guaranteed for the big ones. Then what we need is a first choice left back. That is it. any others coming in would be to 'squad' players. Mascherano for me replaces Zenden. We obviously need cover for RB and CB. The rest? we have cover in the form of Carson for GK. Hyppia for CB. we have riise, aurelio, Insua for LM. Kewell as LW,Sissoko, Zenden,Masc for CM, Garcia for RW, and we have 3 strikers who can and will rotate. Lets also not forget that we have a fairly large squad. If we continue to 'shop' for first team players, why will any youngster want to sign for us? How can we expect any player to break through? If we go an buy another CB or RW, what message does that send to the andersons, Hamills and hobbs? Yes we would LIKE signings, but do we actually NEED all those signings?
-
If he's 16, isn't it just a matter of signing him and compensation set by a tribunal? Also, someone made an important point about talent in the premiership. If we are sucking in the talent from the rest of the world, where will europe, south America etc be?

I heard that Zidane was looking at houses in the area, and that coca cola were going to sponsor our shirts, martin o'neill was looking at houses next door to zidane and apparantly we are in discussions about a new stadium on stanley park and a take over with a middle eastern group, although the details haven't been made available yet.
-
This is a good move. Not better than riise and not young enough to be a prospect. We have riise and aurelio for the time being whilst Insua can see if he is good enough to be better than them.

heart of stone here, so HAHA HAHAHA Even wilkinson would have seen that the milan team were aging and started to make changes to it. with 30mil in their back pocket, they still didn't address it. There are a number of players they could look at (Alex at PSV?) who would fit inthere. If Kaka leaves, they will be well and truly shagged.
